This article is about Brian Wall, the artist.

Since another page with the same name redirects to Julio Dinero, should I rename this one to Brian Wall (artist)? How to do that?

Can we remove the existing redirect page?

New article on Brian Wall (artist)

[edit]

I have created an article on Brian Wall, an American sculptor. This redirect page sends users directly from Brian Wall to Julio Dinero. Can it be deleted, or replaced with a disambiguation page? Carsley66 (talk) 00:36, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Neither are good options. A redirect with a valid target, or more than one possible target, shouldn't be deleted because it may be helpful to someone. If the current target is not the best target or primary topic then it should be changed. This might be the case here since the current target is for a mis-spelling. A disambiguation page is not normally required when there are only two options for the target. One is almost always going to be better than the other. Then a hatnote is usually placed on the target page for those people that wanted the other article. A disambiguation page can always be created later if more Brian Walls show up to the party. In this case, a hatnote is already on Brian Wall (artist). My suggestion would be to boldly edit the redirect to target the new article and see if anyone screams. There is also the option of moving the artist article to this title, if it turns out that it is clearly the best target. Perhaps one step at a time.
