I have deleted this information, as it is contained in the paragraph above:
"These fall into two main categories:
Saccharomyces uvarum or S. carlbergensis Saccharomyces cerevisiae "
This is a nice article, but I think this article needs to be cleaned up a bit. For example, I believe that the article leaves it unclear whether wheat beers are lagers or ales. Naerhu 02:12, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- Development of the article would be good, but one could argue that hefeweizen (insofar as brewed with T Delbrueckii) is neither an ale or a lager (insofar as brewing with S Cerevisiae or S Uvarum defines the top/bottom, ale/lager distinction). Maybe someone knowledgeable can tell whether T Delbrueckii has a top-fermenting habit, which would get us farther than the simplistic ale/lager distinction. We should also bear in mind that there are at least three different sorts of wheat beer, witbier, weizen and Berliner Weisse (four if one includes American "hefeweizens" brewed with S Cerevisiae, but these are clearly wheat ales). The three main types have radically different characters. BrendanH 09:38, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- All very good points. Naerhu 10:39, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
