Safety - Citation Needed Comment
[edit]The line that says it's safe to walk around the city is marked as citation needed. I don't know of any Internet resources, but the Bradt Guide to Congo (both nations), the only English speaking guide, says this in the opening chapter on Brazzaville, that unlike in Kinshasa, crime here is "almost unherd of" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.253.126.77 (talk) 23:25, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
As someone who has been to Brazzaville several times, and has been mugged only 150m. from my hotel (after dark), I would suggest that the line be changed from "quite safe" to "fairly safe, but not after dark".
De Brazza had become a naturalised French citizen by the time he explored the area around the future Brazzaville. Kahuzi 07:16, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Worst city to live?
[edit]Reading that Brazzaville is the worst city in the world hurts my feelings. Who could have said such a lie? I lived there for about 10 years. I admit that they were some bad times because of the civil war, but these were temporary situations. The standard of living is probaby not close to european standards but I always ate good, slept good and had the comfort I wanted. All my friends attended private schools, and almost all the other kids attended school safely. People always went out on weekends, went shopping and enjoyed themselves. Well the electricity problems were annoying but who cares? That's not the worst thing people can think of. Many of the buildings that have been destroyed were rebuilt. The two references used for this article make no sense and I a big lie. To be honest the biggest problem is Congo is unemployemnt and low wages but this is still not bad enough to be all the way in the bottom. This part of the article has to be revised or I will file a complaint.Shady19 18:58, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Shady19.
- That passage merely reflects the 2007 World-wide quality of living survey and any impact it may have on anyone's feelings is incidental. El_C 19:03, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
For God's sake I urge a wikipedia official to remove the part that talks about the quality of life of Brazzaville. The sources they used are irrelevant. Folks, I've been to Brazzaville multiple times and I have family there. It is really not that bad. There are places in India that are not even close to Brazzaville's standard of living. Check out UN sources or CIA ones to find out the best about Congo in general and Brazzaville in particular. Please replace that part of the article with real information or cancel that part. If nothing's done, I will edit it my self and file a complaint.Shady19 17:58, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
seriously , you really want to compare india with brazzaville . —Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.113.11.18 (talk) 20:32, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Don't be an idiot. Learn how to read. I said there are "places" in India worse than Brazzaville. It's not as if I'm comparing the whole of India to Brazzville. I still stand by my statement. There are very miserable people in India. At least in Brazzaville, most people have at least one decent meal every day. So please, whoever is posting stupid stuff on here needs to quit.Shady19 (talk) 00:35, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Capital City
[edit]There are two cities cited as the capital of DR Congo, this and Kinshasa, which is it? Is Brazzaville considered part of Kinshasa? If so, that should be mentioned. 96.251.129.108 (talk) 17:49, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Brazzaville is capital of the Republic of the Congo. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a different country. Brazzaville and Kinshasa are next to each other, across a river, but are capitals of different countries. --Golbez (talk) 21:25, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
There's a new article about Ouenze, which is apparently one of seven(?) administrative divisions (arrondissements) of Brazzaville. Could someone who knows about this subject check it out and clean it up?--Chris Johnson (talk) 11:38, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Was the demonym of Brazzaville?
[edit]Its neighbors next door are Kinshasans, in the UK we have Londoners, in France we have Parisians, in the US we have Washingtonians, etc. Anyways, what is the genitive of Brazzaville? -- Sion8 (talk) 00:06, 13 September 2016 (UTC) Sion8 (talk) 00:06, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
