Page width

Does anyone know why the page is so wide (I get a horizontal scroll bar even with a 1600 x 1200 setting)? There aren't any extra-wide images, so what's the deal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.189.76.18 (talk) 15:42, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Quick typo fix

I noticed in the first paragraph, the structure seemed awkward and grammatically incorrect, so I corrected it.

Title

I removed the title of album #3 from the wiki. Someone put it down as "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" but this is NOT an official title. It was a title kicked around during the summer tour. Can we wait on posting a title until we have official confirmation? Marghiee

Title was correct. Officially announced today. http://absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=176626 Marghiee

Can someone tell me what the difference is between "Fight Off Your Demons" and "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me"? From what I can tell, they are the same thing but I noticed Fight Off Your Demons has extra songs that are not on the "real" album. any help? Update: I read further on and my question was answered Railpunk (talk) 02:27, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Genre

  • Genres are not capatalized. Also pop punk does not need a dash between the words. Use the articles already on wikipedia to describe music. If you think there is a notable difference between "pop punk" and "pop-punk" you might want to establish the "pop-punk" article, which currently redirects to "pop punk." In our discussions on the "pop punk" article we have decided that there is no notable difference and that "pop punk" is the most notable of the two. Again, just to reinforce it, don't capitalized words inapproriately. Xsxex 17:26, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Can we all agree to just leave it at "Alternative Rock"? Wieners 20:09, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

  • For the records, I haven't touched the genre in literally about 12 months and refuse to change it and let other people bicker. It's not worth the hassle, and it's debatable what genre they fall under. Halo 13:03, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

I think that it should be alt rock too, because they only use punk in a few of their songs. But hey, keeping people from arguing is fine too. Railpunk (talk) 02:32, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

NPOV

I'm not sure what the phrase "despite the band's limited skills" refers to, but it's either non-NPOV or has a misplaced antecedent. thoughts?

My rollbacks...

I keep having the rollback the page... Please try and make contributions that are better than:

  • Calling Brand New "an awesome band". I love them as much as the next person, but WP:NPOV please.
  • Changing the genre. Look, I don't have an issue with this, but it's pointless and silly. Might as well leave it alone for all the hassle is causes, no? Contribute to the page instead.
  • Adding unreferences information to the article about the new demos. If you want to add information, please add a footnote and a link to where it comes from. I'm a Brand New geek, and as such what's there is probably all that's known. I don't accept unreferenced things as the truth.
  • Vandelism. This is stupid, adding the word "cocks" or adding fake band members is pathetic.

I won't revert anything that I believe adds anything to the article but the genuine contributions are increasingly few and far between. -Halo 13:27, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

- I don't think so. --wieners april 6

Brand New, Emo?

I really don't think so. I don't hear people call The Smiths or The Cure emo, and I think that Brand New is closely related to both of those bands musically.

what the fuck is with the constant genre changing... get over it. if you don't want them to be emo then don't call them that... indie is independent.. they print their own music. Brand New does not.

hey, i think its more insulting to be called 'pop punk' (which they really are not... thats more like yellowcard or NFG) than emo (which their introspective/relationship lyrics, layered tube guitar sounds, and acoustic songs strongly suggest) so yeah i always thought it was crazy to call them pop punk- just call them emo its more accurate and less offensive
Trying to be a genre purist will just get you trumped by some more elitist purist who knows of a more obscure band. Besides, North Korea isn't going to fire off nuclear weapons in response to possible mis-labeling.
They're post-hardcore. They aren't pop punk (like All American Rejects or Relient K), and they certainly aren't emo (which by the way is very offensive because it assumes the band to be a bunch of babies). They're post hardcore. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.193.245.120 (talk) 05:45, 26 January 2007 (UTC).

Alternative Rock anyone?

Ya i wouldent go so far as calling them post hardcore. I see not influence of hardcore in brand news music. Calling them emo is offensive, but they are not post hardcore. Alternative rock would be a broad enough genre to hold the spectrum of brand new's music.#

Alternative rock is a good one... brand new have adopted an instead of rock n roll policy, it is slower and quieter than normal rock music, its not their sole genre of course

loveyourfaithLoveyourfaith (talk) 21:56, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Agree, because most scene bands like Chiodos define themselves as post-hardcore (and if you have heard Chiodos, you would know the difference). I think the genre should stay Alt-rock/emo (not the emocore stuff, more like the first wave emo bands that werent really... emo as we know it today) Railpunk (talk) 02:36, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Your Favourite Weapon was pop-punky, but theyre other 2 albums are very emotional... so i guess they can maybe compared to emo, if thats what emo is, who knows these day, to some people Fall Out Boy are classified as emo. I would say they are definately more influenced by The Smiths or The Cure kind of music, so 'alternative rock' is the best genere to shove them under. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.212.169.54 (talk) 04:04, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Irregular Appearances

Removed this section. It's a mix up on the musicmatch website. Brand New has never appeared on anything outside of the genre. Exthuse 09:29, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

I have wondered about this. Because on several other websites, brand new is listed on those albums. Including "Google Music" and "Allmusic.com". So are you sure that they didn't appear on those albums? Wieners 4:05, 24 April 2006

Band Feud

Removed the Band Feud section. Basically, there are no sources, most of it is rumour based, it's already covered in the Jesse Lacey page and it ruins the flow of the article - something that sound be one, maybe two lines at best, has three stupidly long paragraphs about something that isn't even referenced.

On top of that, I'm not at all sure that the often repeated rumours are accurately represented here at all... Nolan and Lacey are very good friends, and Lazarra's fued with Nolan is something not related to the BN page at all, and the way some of it is written seems very biased. Halo 19:15, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Repeated below:

Many Brand New songs were written by Jesse Lacey as a result of a band feud that existed between John Nolan (formally songwriter & guitarist for Taking Back Sunday), Adam Lazzara (current Taking Back Sunday vocalist) and himself. The story goes that Nolan went to a party and slept with Lacey's girlfriend. This resulted in the song 'Seventy Times Seven' which included the lyrics 'have another drink and drive yourself home/ I hope there's ice on all the roads/ and you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt/ and again when your head goes through the windshield'. As a reply, John Nolan wrote 'There's No 'I' In Team' for Taking Back Sunday (TBS), which used some of the lyrics from the Brand New song, and included lines such as 'I can't regret/can't you just forget it' whilst mocking Lacey's overkill hurt feelings 'wearing your black eye like a badge of honour/ soaking in sympathy'.
However, the feud between Lacey and Nolan was quickly put to one side when Adam Lazzara began to date Nolan's sister and supposedly cheated on her. Nolan confided in Lacey about his thoughts of leaving TBS to start Straylight Run, and Lacey convinced him to do so, which made Lazzara angry. Whilst Nolan and Lacey became friends again, and Lacey began to badmouth Lazzara and TBS at shows. It's now speculation as to which songs are part of the feud, as both bands refuse to talk about it anymore. However, if you look at the lyrics of Mix Tape (BN), Okay I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't (BN) and 'Bonus Mosh Pt. 2' (TBS), 'The Union' (TBS), 'Slowdance On The Inside' (TBS), and many of the songs on the new Taking Back Sunday album, you can decide for yourself whether you think they are replies to each other or not. Many of the lines used in one song will be used in the next, but it's all speculation.
The most obvious proof for the feud is the BrandNew t-shirt which makes the statement "Mics are for singing, not swinging" which is a criticism of Adam Lazzara and his tendency to pretend to garotte himself whilst hanging from the rafters durings shows singing 'I'd never lie to you, unless i had to' from the song 'You're So Last Summer'.

I removed this too. It might fit on Jesse Lacey's page but it dosen't need to be here.

Other Info

Jesse Lacey is John Nolan's (formerly of Taking Back Sunday) best friend, though a fight once broke up their friendship for some time. You can live this battle vicariously through the song "Seventy Times 7" by Brand New, and the response song "There's no 'I' In Team" by Taking Back Sunday. Although some people claim Taking Back Sunday released the song first, and Brand New "stole" their lyrics, Your Favorite Weapon by Brand New was released before Tell All Your Friends by Taking Back Sunday. Similar lyrics such as "Is that what you call tact? You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back, so let's end this call, and let's end this conversation" can be heard in both songs, but the words were supposedly originally spoken by Lacey during a phone call to Nolan, regarding an incident of Lacey's girlfriend cheating with Nolan. In the end, the lyrics were basically shared, not stolen, and John and Jesse have since made up and are presumably good friends today. They were also originally in a band together in New York.

Vinnie?

Accardi has NEVER gone by "Vinnie." Always "Vin". Check any Brand New liner notes for verification. Should he be listed here are Vincent "Vin" Accardi, instead?

  • that is not entirely true. At shows, Jessee refers to Vin as "Vinnie" (he did at the 8/28/06 NYC show). Also, during a 9/18/05 radio interview on the Domestic Disturbance show (NY KROCK 2) he refers to him as Vinnie.

Removing some of the third album content

It was getting unwieldy. I've removed any irrelevent information and rumour mongering. It's just not needed. For the record, I have copied and pasted the two versions below. It's needed trimming for a while but I haven't got around to it Halo 01:40, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

The Third Album

In June 2005, Brand New launched a new official website which they promised to update more often (which has not been the case) and announced they had been recording, and additionally confirmed rumours that Lacey has been "sick," "had surgery," and that there "were multiple things wrong with [him]" but stated that "most of [his problems] have been fixed." In early 2005, Lacey was admitted to the hospital where upon it was learned that he had appendicitis and had surgery to remove his appendix before any further trouble could occur.

As of September 17, 2005, the band is working on their highly anticipated third album in Oxford, Mississippi. The album, which was originally rumored to be called "Fight Off Your Demons" based on the band's new website URL, has, according to fans who attended a concert in Chicago, Illinois, been announced by front man, Jesse Lacey to be titled "The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Of Me". The "Devil" title may infact be the name for the demo track known as 'Mamas'/Untitled 6., and NOT the new album title, as many fans were unclear of what exactly Jesse said during the Chicago show. The "Demons" title was a result of all the medical problems that members of the band has been going through, e.g. Jesse's surgery. The band has teamed up with producer Dennis Herring who has worked with such artists as Elvis Costello. His studio, Sweet Tea, is a house/recording studio filled with vintage instruments and recording equipment. The album is finished and expected to be released sometime in October, 2006.

On January 24, 2006 nine demos from this album were leaked onto the internet, each without titles and of unknown origin, only with a comment they were "Demos that probably won't be on Fight Off Your Demons" following weeks of speculation over the existence of these songs. Among many internet communities, the fifth track, "Untitled 05" was said to be a song called "Cleanser" simply because it matched a description Jesse gave in an interview to Krock2's Domestic Disturbance of being "7 minutes long". In early April, MenWomenandChildren stated in an interview that this song was not entitled Cleanser, and that it wouldn't make the album. Also during the recent tour, "Untitled 08" has been played and referred to as having the title "Yeah", The live version is slightly different to the Demo version, in that the whole band play and the lyrics have changed slightly. Another new song, titled "Take Apart your Head", with lyrics referenced in the new Brand New website, is being played on their tour. It is, however, NOT one of the 9 leaked demos. They have alsoplayed untitled 06 ("Mamas") and 07 ("Fork and Knife") in drasticly improved forms, though at this time only untitled 06 is confirmed for the album. Untitled 6 (Mamas) is now rumored to be titled The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me, after a statement made by Jesse during the Chicago show in July.

On June 10, 2006 Brand New announced on their website that they will be starting the mixing process on June 12, 2006 with record producer, engineer, and mixer Rich Costey. They indicated that they will be mixing 13-16 tracks and 12-16 of those tracks should make it onto the record. They also announced they will be trying some of the new tracks out on their current tour. They expressed gratitude in the fans response and also commented that the reason they have taken so long in the recording process is so they could perfect the record, which they said should be out sometime this year, most likely late September/early October.

During a show at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia on June 23, 2006, Jesse announced that the "new album was finished four days ago", making the completion date June 19, 2006. During the next show in Charlotte, NC on June 24, 2006, Jesse confirmed that Untitled Track #6 would be on the next album.

On June 29, at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida, Jesse announced that he hoped the new album would be released in October, however he gave the impression that Brand New's fans would have to plead with the label in order to release it that soon.

On July 1st at the Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth, TX, Jesse told fans backstage that the album would release in October pending no major problems. Late October appears to be the most likely candidate. Also, the band is hoping to tour once more to promote the new album. It has since been said that Dashboard Confessional and Brand New will be going on tour together.

On July 28th, this message was posted on the Brand New Street Team webstite: "Hi. Gossip police here. The album does not have a title yet. The album does not have a confirmed release date yet. Street team interview coming soon and hopefully it will answer many of your questions."

I removed the " Several Days ago, Jesse announced that the new album is to be titled, "Here John, Happy Belated Birthday" in a tribute to his biggest fan, John Guzzardi. One of the songs featured will be called "James Devlin's Gay" " part. This is pure speculation, lacks any sort of citation, and come on, "several days ago"? Is someone going to keep updating this "several weeks ago" to "several months ago" etc.? Didn't think so. --Michael 18:55, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Adding a Trivia Section

Does anyone else think there should be a miscellaneous info or trivia section on this page? A lot of the information for the individual albums could be bulleted here. For example, the song title Seventy Times 7 and its underlying meanings with Taken Back Sunday. While we're at it, it might be interested to note there that the song Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't comes from the movie Home Alone, when Kevin McCallister is watching a movie called Angels with Filthy Souls... actually a parody of the 1938 film Angels with Dirty Faces.

What do you think?

Poochemist, 16:22 EST

A long time ago, around six months ago, there was a trivia section - I removed this during a heavy rewrite as it's bad form on Wikipedia and put the appropriate information under the relevent album section. I'd recommend you do the same. Halo 22:05, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Derrick Sherman

The source listed for the band members makes no mention of derrick sherman. this entire page only has him listed as a member. Can anyone confirm he is part of Brand New? -Rhymingisfun 00:18, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

  • They say he's the new member on the interview on the Street Team page, although only lists him by "Derek". He's definitely there playing many of the songs at gigs, having seem him get myself. There's enough evidence to support his inclusion IMO. Halo 12:25, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
  • I saw him play with the band live and they said in the streat team interview he was in the band Wieners 20:11, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I highly doubt Derrick is a member of the band. It still has yet to be OFFICIALLY announced and the promo photos don't feature him at all. I'd liken him more to an Isaac for Straylight Run than a permanent full on member. --Brandnew70x7 07:52, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
      • Jesse had (You can here him tell him) Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra tell a person in the crowd "Derricks in Brand New and don't you ever question it again". The video of that is on Youtube somewhere I'll link it when I find it. That might be indicative of Derrick being in Brand New. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.25.119.181 (talk) 02:40, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Touring

(posted by xXaLLiOo but I don't remember my login pass... on Oct. 24, 2006) I don't currently have any of the info but I think it would make a great addition to the article if we included some information about the tours they've done or the major shows they've participated in: warped tour, bamboozle, east coast tours, west coast tours, mention that their current tour is the first European (outside of the UK) tour, and also include what bands they've toured with.

    • I quite disagree - it would take over the page. Major performances I could understand (the Warped Tour is already mentioned), but bands such as this do that many tours that they aren't individually notable unless there is something special about them. Wikipedia is not designed for such lists (see WP:NOT) - I keep having the remove trivial information from the page as it is in order to stop bloatage as it is. Halo 14:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Recent Spam

Did alot of changes.

First thing done was the removal of Degausser as a single. This is pure speculation, not grounded in fact at all and doesn't belong in an encyclopedia. I moved it to an album track info format.

I also editted and added many covers (My own personal scans) to the entire singles. Redid the demos, which I felt were woefully inaccurate given my knowledge of the band. Added the cover to this as well.

I also removed from the "Personel" section of most records Vin as Backing Vocals. Jesse does all vocals through the wonders of multi-tracking. The only place I see this maybe being an exception is the original demos and maybe (Only becuase no one has heard it) the new record. He only does vocals live of course.

IF POSSIBLE CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EDIT THE COVERS ON THE MAIN BRAND NEW PAGE TO THE MORE PROFESSIONAL ONES?

And FYI, Brand New did not "Sign" to Interscope or Universal Music Group. They signed to Dreamworks Records which then capitulated into UMG a day later. Brand New was assigned to Interscope by UMG.

--Brandnew70x7 07:50, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Done, I've updated the covers, although the 'Sic Transit Gloria' one doesn't look too great. Maybe you could rescan it or someone could edit it to bring the brightness down. And I also added the Second Demo page that you created under 'Demos'. - kollision 10:34, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
  • I've replaced the version of Jude Law with the old version. Basically, the one from Amazon's perspective is totally broken and the contrast has been ramped up and doesn't represent what is actually looks like in real life. I'm completely for someone scanning in the single cover (preferably the 7" if someone has a non-marked copy) - I would myself but my copy is a few hundred miles away at the mo. -Halo 15:16, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
    • I can scan the CD version of Jude Law and I can scan a better version of the BN/Safety And Numbers Split. I readjusted the Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades single. Check it out.

new album title source

somebody posted that it comes from "According to Jesse in a radio interview, the title "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" is a quote taken from a conversation he had with a friend about one of their friends who was a schizophrenic." it really wasn't sourced well and I removed it when I saw it on the album page. Should I remove it here to until the proper information comes about? --Russ is the sex 03:59, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I've referenced it. It's from an interview with Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1. Also reworded it, Jesse says its a friend of a friend, not their friend and he also say he is schizophrenic, not was. - kollision 10:24, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey guys, just a small update I added Natalie Ioizzo to the BN section of the personel as flute player for the song Am I Wrong. --Brandnew70x7 07:59, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

vin played piano?

Jesse played piano on Am I Wrong, the only song I can remember that they've recording having piano. Also, Vin hasn't done vocals on any albums, only during live performances as it is almost impossible to pull of at some times. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.161.69.254 (talkcontribs) 18:16, 7 November 2006 (UTC).

  • No, not neccesarily. I'm not saying you're wrong, but if you own the actually copy of the Safety In Numbers split you'll see he does indeed get listed as vocals as well.
  • I believe there was also piano used in Sowing Season and the official release of (Fork and Knife). I'm not sure if Vin played piano on either of these.

GENRES

been changed quite a few times in the past couple weeks. so what do we think is best, rock, alternative rock, "alternative rock emo" or do we have another idea?---Kmccusker2 23:17, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I say we should mention Emo as well as Alternative Rock. Without doubt Brand New have significantly changed style etc. However they were considered part of the 'emo' scene by many upto 2006 and this should be accknowledged. Fullerov 22:21, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

  • "Emo" implies hardcore influences - something Brand New don't have. The "emo" term is lame, mainly because it's a meaningless way to draw a connection between band's styles which have little to no connection. Wouldn't it just be easiest just to swerve around the whole damn thing and leave it as "rock" or similar, because there's no doubt /whatsoever/ about that? I see one pop-punk album, one alt/indie-rock album and one alt. rock album. -Halo 01:44, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
I have always called them emo, punk, or even alternative, but like we have seen, there are so many sub genres of genres and subgenres of subgenres etc... that i agree, Rock. that's all that needs to be put.Kmccusker2 07:23, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Emo doesnt necessarily mean the emo of today. The old first/second wave emo bands sounded like Brand New. Not these new MCR bands or like the emocorebands of today. This is sort of copypasta from my above comments but, They should be classified as Alt. rock/emo-punk. Fair enough? Railpunk (talk) 02:47, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Brand new jesus.jpg

Image:Brand new jesus.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 17:56, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

If Brand new refers to themselves as Rock as according to their myspace, should it not work well enough here?

Stop changing the genre

From a 2003 Rolling Stone article: "Brand New prefer not to be called emo." http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/brandnew/articles/story/5938668/hot_band_brand_new

So stop changing the damn genre, it's fine as rock or alternative rock. I think we can all agree with that. Wieners 23:26, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Sources

I've tracked down some interviews and other media articles that might be useful as sources for the article.

Most of the profile pages are really useless (except for the last.fm one), because they are either copied from this All Music Guide profile or old versions of the Wikipedia article itself. Kind regards, Sebi [talk] 06:22, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

In the opening paragraph of the article it says "The band's first song to earn significant airplay was "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows", which fell into heavy rotation on many radio stations during the summer of 2003,[4] while they were playing the 2003 Vans Warped Tour.[5]" . Isn't the term "significant" open to interpretation as to what actually qualifies as significance? As a fan of the band, I personally believe that their first hit was "Jude Law and a Semester Abroad". I'm just putting in my two cents. 24.45.137.188 09:48, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree with you, but the problem is, how much air play did Jude Law get?

I love the song, but I have to agree with the way the article is now. Deadxsouls (talk) 20:57, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Fair use criteria

The use of images not in compliance with our fair-use criteria or our policy on nonfree content is not appropriate, and the images have been removed. Please do not restore them. — Moe ε 15:16, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

People, we're missing an entire album!

Brand New - Live At Birch Hill Nite Club 8/23/02 Honest, check it out somewhere, but nobody's written anything about it and i'm not quite sure how to go about it... Alienpmk (talk) 19:59, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Sounds like a bootleg 98.203.242.56 (talk) 21:34, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Was it ever even an official release?

I know it's in all of the Brand New discography torrents, but the quality doesn't sound like an offical release.

I'll check into it though. Deadxsouls (talk) 20:50, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't think this page has enough pictures of Jesse Lacey. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wigglepuppy999 (talkcontribs) 23:54, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

You're right. Take some, release the copyright and post them. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 07:27, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

I was being sarcastic, because he has three pictures on this page and no one else in the band does. Not even a group pic. Maybe I will take some uncopyrighted pictures...nah —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wigglepuppy999 (talkcontribs) 20:54, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Hehe yeah I know. It's a bit stupid all I could find and use though. If you do have any, or know anyone who does, tell em to come and we can help them post the pics up. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 03:22, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Four piece or five piece?

Kind of silly question, but we have 5 members listed in the infobox and only 4 in the opening paragraph. Which is true? kiac (talk) 08:42, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

With the release of thier new album, they have been touring with the 5th member. Similar to when Nirvana added Pat Smear to thier lineup. For historical purposes, the band is a 4 piece. Kennykane (talk) 05:12, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Second Demo

Very little infos are available about their second demo, but this should be the tracklist, according to the scene group P.H. who ripped the demo:

1. Last Chance To Lose Your Car Keys (demo) (which later became Last Chance To Lose Your Keys on the LP)
2. Magazines (demo)

and then there are 3 of the 4 songs of the previous demo, same recording for what i heard:

3. Logan To The Government Center (demo)(which later became Logan To Government Center on the LP)
4. Secondary (For The Best)(demo)(which later became Secondary on the LP)
5. The Shower Scene (demo)

Do you think we could add this page in their discography? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.41.220.16 (talk) 14:49, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

What happened to the page for the leaked 2006 demos???

It's very significant. It was practically an album on it's own; only a handful of songs made their way onto the final album. The leaked demos are one of the most popular leakage ever. That certainly merits it's own page. Even a stub is better than nothing. I know there was one but I want to find out what happened before I go off creating a new page. Leopold Stotch (talk) 17:08, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Unreleased songs and demos are not notable on wikipedia, according to WP:Music. As for what happened to it, i have no idea, but it's possible someone deleted it, check the old page for the deletion log? kiac (talk) 14:36, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
"Unreleased songs and demos are not notable on wikipedia, according to WP:Music." Such BULLSHIT! Maxwells.plum (talk) 05:01, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

I would have to argue the untitled demos are extremely significant. The leaks played a big role in why it took so long to release D&G; I'm 99% sure that was stated by the band somewhere. Also, All but (I think) three of them have been re-tooled and released in some form or another.

They're not notable for a page of their own. They were never even released, just leaked. They are mentioned on this page and should perhaps have a section on the Devil & God page (they might?), because that is what made them 'significant', the album. Demos just don't have merit for their own articles, dozens of people would come along arguing the article should be deleted. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 08:13, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Let The Sun Rise

I haven't heard anything about this. Where did this come from? Is there a source we can use to verify the name of the album? SanePsychotic (talk) 18:27, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Removed "Let The Sun Rise" - no one's cited it so there's not proof that it's the name of the new album. If this turns out to tbe true then add it in again. SanePsychotic (talk) 02:21, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Christian band?

I moved these comments to this new section Maxwells.plum (talk) 05:05, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Is brand new a christian band??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.143.3.129 (talk) 16:41, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

No, BN isn't a Christian band. I have no idea where you could possibly get that idea from. SanePsychotic (talk) 01:05, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Well, yes and no; Jesse is Catholic, I believe, and he has played several guitars with the Virgin Mary on the back; also the third album title isn't as opaque as some might like to believe. There is a little imagery here and there. But no, not really, not compared to, say, Thrice, As I Lay Dying, mewithoutYou, etc. To put it in perspective, Say Anything are way more Jewish than BN are Christian. New Information

Does anybody have any info on what the band is doing? It sounds like their winding down vocals for 3 or 4 months now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.139.100.188 (talk) 01:42, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
