I'll be taking on this review. SBFCEdit (talk) 22:50, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Lead
[edit]- [for EFL League Two club Port Vale] — full stop needed at the end here.
- [2018–19 season], [2019–20 Season] & [2020–21 season] — Wikilink to the relevant club season where possible. If that's not possible (e.g. Wrexham), Wikilink to the division e.g. 2018–19 National League or to the overall seasonal page e.g. 2018–19 in English football.
- Include "season" in the pipe e.g. 2018–19 season when linking per previous discussion that was had at WT:WPF. This needs to be repeated for all such instances throughout the article.
- [loan] — Wikilink to Loan (sports)
Career
[edit]- Per here, the below information is absolutely tailor-made to be included in an 'Early life' sub section. If you'd prefer to put this under 'Personal life' that's up to you. Either way, I do not think the first line (School etc) should be in the career section.
- "Walker was born in Billingham, County Durham and attended Northfield School & Sports College.[1][4] He joined Hartlepool United at the age of 13 and would make the 12-mile round trip to Victoria Park on his bicycle."
- Given Walker has an 'International career' section; rename 'Career' section to 'Club career' per here
Hartlepool United
[edit]- [spent time on trial at Wolverhampton Wanderers] — the outcome of the trial? It looks like he did not sign for Wolves. A small mention that no transfer materialised.
- [newly appointed manager Craig Harrison] — "newly-appointed" should be hyphenated.
Crewe Alexandra
[edit]- [penalty] — Wikilink to Penalty kick (association football)
- [However Crewe boss David Artell commented] — However, Crewe boss..
Shrewsbury Town
[edit]- I'd like to see something at the start of this that mentions his brief return to Crewe in order to sign for Shrewsbury Town.
- [However the loan spell was ended early in March after he picked up a hamstring injury.] — more neutral to remove 'However' here.
- I'd also like to see a little something about the number of appearances he made at Wrexham during the season (over the two loan spells).
- [However Ricketts was sacked and Walker] — more neutral to remove 'However' here.
- [On 12 May 2021, it was announced that he would leave Shrewsbury at the end of the season, following the expiry of his contract] — "it was announced" is not needed. I'd go with along the lines of "Walker left Shrewsbury at the end of the season, following the expiry of his contract".
Port Vale
[edit]- Only a suggestion, but four of the last five paragraphs in the Club career section start with "On DD MONTH YYYY". Can read like a bit of a list, so would be nice to mix it up. Each to their own and not a requirement.
- [with League Two side Port Vale] — I have been messaged before to told that "side" is not a word that would ever be used in an encyclopedia to describe a football club. I started using "club", but again; each to their own and not a requirement.
International career
[edit]- I'm guessing he did not make any appearances for England under-18s? Worth a mention.
Style of play
[edit]- [He is a good free-kick taker and is able to emulate the 'knuckleball' dead ball technique made famous by Cristiano Ronaldo] — Wikilink Knuckleball#Association football. Remove the "made famous by Cristiano Ronaldo" as a lot of other players used the same technique prior to Ronaldo per the link.
Summary
[edit]- Good work on the article. It's pretty much there and not much to change. I've put the article on hold and I'll await your response to the above. Cheers! SBFCEdit (talk) 22:50, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
