BBC news reports
[edit]How relevant are the BBC news reports about the Death of Diana, Princess of Wales to the summary or lead section of this article about the film? There is nothing in the article about the film being screened on the BBC and in the context of the film article I am not sure it is even worth mentioning, except as a trivial note. Perhaps this piece of trivia should be mentioned in the article about the Death of Diana, Princess of Wales, as I don't see it as being important to the film, as it is not part of the film, itself, only an off-air recording of the particular BBC screening of the film. While it is a curiosity that the BBC chose that particular moment to interrupt the screening of the film, it seems to me that this was mostly a coincidence about when the news broke. I think it would be more relevant to discuss which TV programs were interrupted in an article about Diana's death, and what criticisms the BBC received from the public or in the news media about the timing of their news reporting. There doesn't seem to be a contemporary report, only the subsequent recollections of viewers. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:27, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- Instead of mentioning just one TV station in one country, surely Wikipedia should adopt a worldwide approach? Why not list films interrupted all around the world by the tragic news? Belle Fast (talk) 22:44, 15 March 2022 (UTC)

- Dear Belle Lente, I strongly beg to differ - not only because I was watching it in my London flat that night, but also that, to my knowledge, it was the first time it was shown on UK TV screens (BTW, the movie is a stinker, even in the French original - the dubbing certainly provided no improvement on the already poor original). It did trigger quite a change in radio/tv programming for the rest of the week, somewhat close to the news of JFK's assassination ("We are interrupting this broadcast" ...), nevermind John Lennon's - assuming, of course, that in them there days you were more than a faint prospect in your father's testicles. Otherwise, how could you possibly know, let alone appreciate, the circumstances of the day? Kindly revert the change. 2001:7E8:C644:A901:7CAD:F408:67FF:99B0 (talk) 11:50, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
