Why does this article exist?

[edit]

It's a factoid, something that you'd find in an almanac. Most of the information can be obtained by eyeballing a detailed map of South America or Brazil. The actual lengths of the borders is trivia, should be in a sidebar, if present at all. If this article were useful, it'd contain information like

  • where are the borders? I.e. geophysical coordinates (I'm in the jungle, and don't know where they are)
  • how did they get to be that way (i.e. surveys, wars, natural boundaries, etc)
  • when did they get to be that way?
  • what do the borders look like (generally, they are some geographic feature)
  • some borders are still disputed, or not precisely known - these deserve detailed treatment
  • crossing stations - if we are crossing the border, where should we be, in order to keep travel papers in order
