Epochs Identified in this article
[edit]John Borchert's original article (Borchert, John R. (July 1967). "American Metropolitan Evolution". Geographical Review. 57 (3): 301–332.) included only the first four epochs listed in this wikipedia article, and in the Geographical Review article, Borchert left the ending date of the last epoch open-ended.
The article by Phillips and Brun (Phillips, Phillip D.; Brunn, Stanley D. (July 1978). "Slow Growth: A New Epoch of American Metropolitan Evolution". Geographical Review. 68 (3): 274–292.) proposed the addition of a "Slow Growth Epoch" to the four that had been proposed by Borchert.
What is the source for ending the "Auto-Air-Amenity" epoch in 1970, and adding the "High-Technology Epoch (1970–Present Day)" that's been added to Borchert's original four? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.128.142.233 (talk) 18:29, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
- Dr. Borchert expanded his original epoch theory with "High-Technology Epoch" in the last chapter of Our Changing Cities.
- Borchert, John R. “Futures of American Cities.” In Our Changing Cities, edited by John Fraser Hart, 218–50. Baltimore, MD: The John Hopkins University Press, 1991.
