Setlists?
The inclusion of setlists does not seem necessary? If anything it clutters up the page and is not imperative. Also, the inclusion of setlists appears to be half assed and not complete for every year (for example 2004). I've removed these previously but they keep returning. Can we please get a consensus and finally get rid of the setlists. De Silentio 20:51, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Setlists, if included, should be split off into a new article, IMO. --dimwell talk contribs .net 19:35, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Vandalism
Does anyone think that "There will be crack vendors in Centeroo this year for the first time as well!" is probably not a verifiable statement? (Although it is kind of funny)
- I've removed it, and warned the editor.--Esprit15d 18:39, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
There's always people shlankin HubBahs all over the Roo, gotta keep it going afterall!
Riverhead, Bonarroo NE
Here's a link to a NYTimes article on how 2 festivals (Bonarroo NE and Field Day) planned for the Enterprise Park site in Riverhead, NY, were cancelled. I don't know if it belongs on the main page, but it's pretty interesting. Imagine if there had actually been a Bonaroo NE since '03?

Verify this
Can anyone verify that this thing lasts several days and the goers can camp out without paying multiple entrance fees. My friend said her brother did this a few years ago but i dont believe her. I dont want to add it until i know it's true.Avenged Evanfold 22:01, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- You pay for one ticket and stay on site for three days. There is no entrance fee... just the ticket price, which this year is running about $190. Most people camp out on site since it's a major hassle to enter and exit the festival (due to the large number of people). -DMurphy 05:07, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Having gone this year, yes. You pay $180 for camping and the music.
Rumored artists?
does anyone have a source on where the Bonnaroo organizers said they will be adding 16 more artists? I see on the main website that after the round 3 additions they said more to come, but where did the number come from? -DMurphy 05:15, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Bonnaroo Festival 2006
I have been going to this festival for 3 years now, I'm from Detroit, MI. It is a great place for people who are in to music, art, and meeting people. Laying around in the hot Tennessee sun isn't too bad either. There are tons of artists, lots to do, and the people are incredibly friendly. Everyone there is on the same level and just enjoying all that the Superfly entertainment group provides for this festival. You pay your 180 bucks, drive to Tennessee, set up your tent, and the rest is up to you! I'm totally psyched for this year's lineup as well as some of the other assets (microbrew tasting, freakshow, cabernet, movie tents, art/food vendors). As far as artist additions, I think the 5th round was the last though I really want SCI, Flaming Lips, or Wilco to be added. This is truly a place to come and lose yourself for a weekend, the best music festival in the country!
- is wikipedia a message board now?69.181.121.40
main features?
the article says: The main attractions of the festival are the multiple stages of live music, featuring mostly jam bands (categorized as progressive fusion), but also including hip hop, jazz, Americana, electronica, and other alternative music. that is not true at all, especially not for this year.
Yes it is. hip hop: Common, Blackalicious, Cyprus Hill. Jam Bands: Moe., Phil Lesh & Friends. Jazz: Soulive & Bill Frisell. Americana: Mike Gordon & Ramble Dove, Shooter Jennings, Tom Petty. Electronica: you could almost say Radiohead, Dungen. and other alternative music: Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie, the Magic Numbers, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. so no, i think that's a very good discription of the variety of music. there should be a direct reference however to Reggae which was very prominent this year.
--Radiohead-- Let it be known that any statement lauding Radiohead as the highlight of Bonnaroo is merely one of opinion. In fact, many people found Radiohead to be boring and quite the downer. Some were even overhead sayign that they thought Radiohead is nothing but a band of suicidal tools who need some talent knocked into them.
Re: Radiohead-- Then again, many people (myself included) saw Radiohead as the act that rose leaps and bounds above the rest. They opened this concert up to a whole different group of people, displayed their talent for diversity, and played an amazing, long set. I admit that Radiohead may not be for everyone, as it took me years to fully understand what the fuss was about, but once you fall for them, it is as if they stand taller than any other band. Their music grabs you-- and the concert, according to the many people I spoke to, was akin to that of an epiphany. It is my new standard as far as concerts go. They were named the best live rock band in the world for a reason...and after Bonnaroo, I believe it.
Re: Radiohead-- I've read the negative reviews on some message boards as well, however for me, it was an amazing performance. I've seen them a few times, and this was just astounding.
Re: Radiohead-- Whether or not they put on a good show is besides the point. When you say "many people (myself included) saw Radiohead as the act that rose leaps and bounds above the rest" you're using what are known as weasel words: Wikipedia:Avoid_weasel_words It may be a widely held opinion that Radiohead is the greatest band in the universe ever, but Wikipedia isn't the place for any opinion.
Re: Radiohead-- The article uses the term "highlight", which is defined as "An especially significant or interesting detail or event." (http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/highlight). It doesn't mean good or bad, just that it was of note. I don't see the problem. Since probably close to 70K of the 80K in attendance were there, it must have been a highlight. Plus, that was the only song where glowsticks were thrown.
Re: As a comparison, I thought Radiohead's show @ Bonnaroo 06 was the best thing Id ever seen live, but a friend of mine found it so intense and dark and he wigged out and tossed his cookies.

This article is a POV nightmare, mostly the 2006 section. Please make efforts to verify opinions from noted sources, and avoid opinions in general if possible. I will be making efforts to bring the writing in harmony with WP policy. --Esprit15d 13:14, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Bonnaroo
This area needed cleaned up badly. Hopefully there can be better communication here before edits, especially adding 2007 rumors.
- note 1 - Sufjan Stevens is not touring summer 2007. Sorry.
- note 2 - Carlos Santana's official site says that he is not touring in 2007, so no Roo appearance.
- note 3- Artists who plan on not touring summer 2007 could always decide to play Bonnaroo, as it is obviously different than a tour. You guys are smart, real smart, you must have some music industry insider information.
- Nirvana ended when Kurt Cobain did.
- Soundgarden is broken up.
- So are Rage Against the Machine. They're headlining a day of Coachella. Darquis 02:27, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Sublime also is no more.
- The Doors are no longer together.

One Problem
Umm it says that Jerry Garcia is playing at the 2007 bonnaro festival. One problem *caugh* he's dead. I will assume good faith and delete him from the list.

Seriously, who keeps messing with the wikipedia page? Obviously Nirvana and Sublime are not playing.

The Police in 2007?
"The 2007 festival is scheduled for June 14-17 and the initial artist announcement is scheduled for February 14, 2007. As of February 12th, The Police are the first headlining band to be announced, which was via Billboard [1].
As of February 12, the following have confirmed to play the festival this year (via their own websites or MySpace): The Police, Cold War Kids, Fountains of Wayne, The Hold Steady, Uncle Earl, & Michael Franti & Spearhead & John Butler Trio. According to Bonnaroo's own website, the recently reunited Police will also appear."
- That's fair enough, but maybe we should mention that The Police wil be there? 82.6.83.187 05:09, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Article length, sourcing
I archived the talk page, as it was getting unwieldy. It didn't look like there were active conversations, but if there were, I apologize.
This page needs attention. In particular, the highlight sections for each year. None of these are supported by reference in any way. Some of these them can probably be verified by the DVDs and possibly news articles, but most are likely from the memories of attendees. This, especially given that what constitutes a "highlight" varies from person to person, is original research, which makes Wikipedia cry. Since the article has been tagged as uncited for some time, I'm going to remove most of these highlight sections. Please don't interpret this as an attack on you if they're your contributions. They'll still be in the history. I think that some of these highlights are useful additions to the article, and I encourage anyone to put them back, as long as they cite a verifiable source. And lest you think I'm hating, let it be known that I'm a three time attendee :) -₪-Hemidemisemiquaver (talk) 17:02, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Pages like this don't scale very well, as each year makes it grow and grow. Might it make sense to create separate "Bonnaroo Music Festival (200X)" pages and reference them from the main page? SJFriedl (talk) 02:12, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think so, with brief summaries left on the main page. Although having them all on one page does allow one to search on the name of an act and easily find what year they played. Wwwhatsup (talk) 03:35, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know how much it helps, but I turned the long list of band names (in paragraph form) into three-column format, and though it makes each section a bit larger, it's a bit easier to read. This might go hand in hand with splitting the years apart (which I might make a go at). They say "Be bold", right? :-) SJFriedl (talk) 05:50, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- It looks a lot better. Perhaps you could do the same thing for Coachella? Wwwhatsup (talk) 14:49, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I created a new article for the splitting up the years. I made a 2002 as a start, not sure if this is in line with the proposals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnaroo_Music_Festival%282002%29 Gadeadhead (talk) 19:26, 23 January 2008 (UTC)gadeadhead
I don't know that it's necessary. It looks a lot better with the columns, either way. Wwwhatsup (talk) 00:00, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I understand the article was getting too long, but, honestly, I hate this article now. It's pretty much just a list of bands that played each year. There's nothing in it about the spirit of the festival, the buildup, the activities, etc, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.191.85.179 (talk) 15:49, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
What about splitting this up into separate articles for the separate years then we could give a little more info on each year without it being as long. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolfmanjess12 (talk • contribs) 16:47, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
citing live recordings/superjam
Are live recordings (ie bootlegs) considered citeable sources? It would greatly help with fleshing out information regarding this year's superjam. Additionally, I believe that information about the past superjams should be added back into the page, as they are separately billed and have in at least one case (2007) been announced prior to the festival. They added it, although it says the stage was set up by 3:30am, which isn't true. I got bored at left at 4:00am and they were still screwing with the ridiculous set (I've even got pictures of that cluster f---). I believe that the official denial of the Zep/Metallica rumor is worthy of inclusion, it can be removed once the line-up is announced. In putting in the one current line, I wiped two earlier edits with cites, that re-inforced it. I believe that the information that the rumor is unfounded is sufficient. The Billboard cite goes into a little more detail. I've added a wiktionary ref for 'quash' as it maybe a little obscure, especially for foreign readers. Wwwhatsup (talk) 08:53, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that it should remain. The way it is currently phrased is a good way to deal with rumor, although the word quash denotes active suppression, for example sending DMCA takedowns to or suing sites circulating the rumor, which isn't happening. I realize that quash is the word Billboard used in their coverage, but that doesn't mean it's the best one. Plain old denied is more accurate and less obscure. -₪-Hemidemisemiquaver (talk) 23:44, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Wwwhatsup (talk) 01:43, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Please refrain from speculation about future events and wait until a verifiable source is published, preferably the official announcement. -₪-Hemidemisemiquaver (talk) 16:50, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

There have been several delete-and-restores of the rumored 2008 lineup (some reversions by me), but I believe there is no real evidence that this is anything but an internet rumor. What's the best way to handle this? A friend-of-a-friend knows the tour scheduler for a major band, and she says this is all bunk. What's the best way to handle something that's looking more (to me) like just a rumor? Is this encyclopedic? SJFriedl (talk) 04:15, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
The article from the Tennessean newspaper regarding Robert Plant and Allison Krauss, which has been inserted, then deleted, then inserted again into this section was misunderstood by the original user. The newspaper article states the plans of the duo to tour in "Manchester". This is NOT referring to Manchester, TN. It is referring to Manchester, England. This is obvious in the context of the article, along with the last sentence of the article that refers to the as-yet unannounced US tour plans of Plant and Krauss. Please do not re-insert this reference into the article.Smarttowel2000 (talk) 04:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Similarly, the references to the list of groups "confirmed" on Pollstar needs to carry a direct link to the posting or article on Pollstar that references this. I have been unable to track down the Pollstar posting that says anything about confirmed Bonnaroo acts. Along with this, "according to Pollstar and their official websites" is not specific enough with a reference to be called "confirmed". As yet, neither the Bonnaroo or Superfly websites or myspace pages (each falling under the banner of "official website") have announced any "confirmed" acts. As far as I can tell, these references are pure speculation from third-parties. Unless a direct link to a specific article or posting is provided, please do not insert "confirmed" acts.Smarttowel2000 (talk) 04:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
I've asked for (and been granted) semi-protection for the article until Feb 9. Wwwhatsup (talk) 08:47, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
I removed the text about Superfly denying that neither Metallica nor Led Zep will perform because they did not say that. If you read the link that was provided as evidence for this claim, they simply said that the current rumors about these headliners were "innacurate." This could mean that one of these bands is performing and not the other. Either way, we'll know for sure at midnight EST tonight when the lineup comes out. Unitl then, we can do without such speculation. Egotrippin99 (talk) 00:38, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Neutrality
This article reads to me like a sales pitch. The Environmentalism section sounds particularly biased:
Since its inception, Bonnaroo has invested an incredible amount of time and resources to become the leader in creating a sustainable festival. From day one, the festival strived to make the most sustainable choices while maintaining the ultimate experience for the fan; setting the standard in sustainability and greening practices for North American festivals. The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is committed to partnering with the fans, other festivals, musicians, and artists to affect change.
The citations are sparse at best and at least 2 are from Bonnaroo's website. The "Accolades" section doesn't help the article seem neutral either. Has nobody ever criticized the festival? Has it no flaws? I find that rather hard to believe. Attys (talk) 00:28, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Controversy
I think there should be a portion about the controversy of Bonnaroo. Apparently there is some controversy about the scope of corporate sponsorship and the stylistic difference of the current performers as opposed to the first few lineups. It would be more of a section contrasting the old from new and the pros and cons of the changes. I can't really add any more input on the subject because I don't fully now the topic--which is why someone needs to write this! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.153.135.123 (talk) 05:42, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
I don't think I've seen or heard any controversy about the things that you've mentioned. Bonnaroo seems quite proud of its dealings with the corporate sponsors--infusing them into the spirit of the event instead of having stages named after them. I was just there and I didn't hear anyone complaining. And any "pros and cons of the changes" between the old and the new would be personal opinion/original research, which is opposed to Wiki's standards. I haven't done an extensive search, but unless a notable blogger has complained and inspired more of a complaint-fest, then I doubt there's much worthwhile to say. Bonaroo attracts bigger names and has expanded its genre-offering since its beginning, but it has the same basic core. If there's any controversy, it might be the deaths and drugs. But that's not much new for music festivals. Shadow Phoenix (talk) 00:50, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
It clearly is an entirely different audience now than what it was 10 years ago. They have pop acts instead of jam bands. Not really a controversy per say, but its well known. 24.207.129.95 (talk) 01:39, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
"Bonnaroo Music Festivals by Year" articles - reorganization
This pertains to the Bonnaroo Music Festivals by year articles (the ones that are "20xx Bonnaroo Music Festival")... I've posted it here for visibility. Help me redirect the discussion if necessary. These articles don't follow the same format. They're disorganized and lengthy. I feel they are not useful from an encyclopedic perspective. I propose we list the bands/artists by notability (headliners first) and remove the date and stage distinctions. We should also remove the list of films shown in the cinema tent. I think we should add the Bonnaroo font and theme as a headline image to each article. - Rantankamus (talk) 19:32, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
