can anyone tell me whether there was an article for Bombay Stock Exchange and when and why it was deleted --Hemanshu 07:20, 2 Feb 2004 (UTC)
I think there is no requirement for section Contact Information when a reference to the official site has been made. I request the anonymous editor to remove the information, as it is not in conformity with general policies, I believe. Comments are requested. --Bhadani 15:52, 3 August 2005 (UTC)
It seems like there should at least be a reference in this entry to the 1993 bombings by D-Company. There was a car-bomb planted in the exchange building itself. I will go ahead and add it if there are no objections. 71.177.2.234 (talk) 02:34, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

growth rate calcs
I see this in the article towards the end:
The stock market has grown by more than four times from January 1990 to today. Using information from April 1979 onwards, the long-run rate of return on the BSE Sensex can be estimated to be 0.52% per week (continuously compounded) with a standard deviation of 3.67%. This translates to 27% per annum, which translates to roughly 18% per annum after compensating for inflation.
That is very good information. On reading that info, I could not help wondering about a few other questions. On what barometer is this growth rate calculated? is it total market cap that has grown 4 times, if yes, does that include all new IPOs since 1990? Is it sensex? do those numbers include change in weightages of various companies in the sensex?
moved article
I have moved the link to reflect the correct name of the institution. The Stock Exchange, Mumbai is what is official - BSE is a more common usage but not official.

Mahajan Ring
I had read that... There was a parallel Mahajan ring operated in Zaveri bazar, Mumbai till the 1940s...can some one elaborate on that..
Reliance Fiasco
Due to some issues with delivery of Reliance Shares the bombay stock exchange had suspensed its operations for (i think) two or three days... Dhirubhai Ambani is still remembered for that.. can that be included in the History.. or as a different article.
Opening Paragraph Inconsistency
The introduction claims the BSE had a July 2005 market cap of $466,000,000,000, but later states the combined market caps of the BSE and the NSE is only $125,500,000,000. Has there been that large of a market downturn, or is the statement an error? I held off from editing it for fear I read the paragraph wrongly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.11.78.129 (talk • contribs) of 14.07.06
- You spotted a good mistake. Now, please try to get up-dated information. I would also try at my end. Thanks. --Bhadani 16:22, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

- bingo -- the opening graph and the closing graphs of the article contradict each other. I will pull new data from their website. Uucp 17:08, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Name question
Is there any pressure for the BSE to be renamed "Mumbai Stock Exchange"? Loganberry (Talk) 00:48, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
The Biggest Stock Exchange of India
This article says that BSE is the biggest, but NSEI's says that NSEI is the biggest, can anyone solve the problem? -Sitenl (talk) 22:10, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
This article says that BSE is the biggets in terms of listings while NSEI article says it is biggest in terms of no. of trades in equities —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arpitgupta12 (talk • contribs) 18:06, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
BSE Broadcast section needs editing
I added the {{proseline}} tag, but I think in general the section needs some fairly heavy editing; "the rise and rise of the Sensex through Indian stock market history" sounds like an advertorial, and we really do not need a new paragraph every time the index rises another thousand. The 20,000 mark is notable, but the 19,000 and 21,000 marks are not. Otherwise in a few years' time this section is going to be about 100K on its own! 86.143.54.72 (talk) 15:45, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
