Design flaw of early models
[edit]Can someone with more information about the design flaw of early models add some mention of it? I have seen some mentions of XM Radio having to launch replacement satellites early than originally planned. "generic failure of the early BSS-702 model: the fogging of the concentrator mirrors on the solar arrays leads to reduced available power."[1] How was the flaw corrected and how was it diagnosed? Which other customers were affected by this? -- Bovineone (talk) 19:13, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Media Copy notice
[edit]In case you guys like to track these sorts of things, here's a link to an aviation news story that copied the 702SP section completely intact into it's article without citation.

External links modified
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Boeing 702. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.boeing.com/defense-space/space/bss/geomobile/geomobile.html
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}

How have the Boeing 702 sats performed?
[edit]The article could be improved by covering how this particular design of a satellite bus, and the several satellites built by Boeing, has performed, over time. Don't know the overall stats, but with failures of Intelsat 29e (2019) and Intelsat 33e (2024) far short of their design service life, costing 100s of millions of dollars to the customer who bought them, it seems the topic is ripe for encyclopedic treatment.
