Fort Ross

[edit]

The anchorage at Fort Ross cove is not "excellent" but rather, modest, and completely exposed in a moderate North-West breeze, and is not suitable for any long term port stay. Most Russian-American company and naval ships chose to tack back and forth along the coast and send small boats into the cove rather than anchoring. The main port for the Company's shipping always remained Port Rumyantsev (Bodega Bay) while, though not ideal, was protected in prevalent NW winds. I have edited it to reflect this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ltkizhi (talkcontribs) 21:23, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Wikipedia has an article on Dillon Beach, which is on Bodega Bay. Dillon Beach is mentioned in the caption for one of the photos, but it isn't linked. Is it possible to put a link in a photo caption? If so, please do. Oaklandguy (talk) 06:27, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I did it! I spotted another Wikipedia article with a link in a caption and used that as a model. I copied the whole of the top of the article, put it in a text editor, & did the change there. I guessed that four ]]]] in a row might mean something else, so I put a space like this:
]] ]]
I then copied the whole text document, and pasted it where the prior version had been. Oaklandguy (talk) 03:06, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A question for you.

[edit]

The bay is a marine habitat used for swimming and surfing, especially by the Dillon Beach area. Is this a good edit? 208.59.132.152 (talk) 07:05, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fog horn

[edit]

I was surprised to find no mention of the fog horn here. Apparently there is a NOAA weather buoy near Bodega Bay with a fog horn that sounds every 5-10 seconds, which can be heard throughout the community on most days and nights. See for example "Fog horn goes off every 5 seconds - Review of The Lodge At Bodega Bay, Bodega Bay, CA". A5 (talk) 04:40, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
