Saab commercial
[edit]For some reason, placing the fact tag in the article screwed up the formatting, and I could not figure out how to fix it. So, I will ask the question here: Are we certain that was Bobby Womack's version of "California Dreamin'" in that Saab commercial. My recollection is that it was Wes Montgomery's version. I would like to see a citation for that statement. Thanks. ---Charles 18:23, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Not sure how to add this, but Womack also sang memorably in 1985 on "Sun City" with Artists Against Apartheid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.45.240.18 (talk) 21:32, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Not sure how to add this, but Womack did a free show at the Apple Store in SoHo, with performing with a band featuring Damon Albarn and XL Recordings president Richard Russell. He also mentioned that they will be playing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday. Here's a source on the Apple Store show: http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/backbeat/backbeat-the-great-bobby-womack-rocks-nyc-1007952212.story — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.117.6.86 (talk) 01:47, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
Early Life
[edit]The second paragraph on early life and Sam Cook needs further references. Not really my area, anybody have any pointers where to look. Also, besides his autobiography published in 2006, are there any other books written about him? Karst 10:31, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
Personal Life
[edit]The entry states that, 'In 1970, Womack and Barbara separated after she discovered he was sexually abusing his 17-year-old stepdaughter...' From everything I've read, 'sexually abusing' Linda Cooke is misleading. In fact, the two were having an affair. Cooke was also quite possibly 18, as several sources state. Womack himself was 25 or 26. To represent a consensual sexual relationship as 'abuse' seems poorly worded at best, malicious at worst. This article notes Cooke's age and contains details about the relationship. If no one objects, I will change the wording to something more neutral. RobotBoy66 (talk) 08:42, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- I see that the article originally said "having an affair", which is what the Time Magazine source says, but it was changed in this edit to "sexually molested" (and then subsequently to "sexually abused.") I agree with you that this is misleading, and have changed it back to the original wording. Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:37, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
