Blind Kung-fu Master

[edit]

I've seen numerous skits where he is a blind Kung-fu master, when he usually tries to help people out (such as helping a prostitute in a bar defend her honor and dignity) or defend them. When he does he always misses and beats up the person he is trying to help out. Its very funny. I cannot recall the master's name but if anyone else knows it, it should defenitly be included.

This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message here, on this talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material that violates someones copyright. If you are not sure if the link on this article should be removed or you would like to help spread this message contact us on this page. Thanks, ---J.S (t|c) 05:20, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1976

[edit]

Bobby Lee was born in 1976, not 1972. He is not 35 years old. In a Fall 2006 episode of Mad TV, they documented Bobby's 30th birthday. Unless is considerable proof of him being 35, I don't think there is any reason to believe he wasn't born in 1976. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.84.165.60 (talk) 20:56, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bobby Lee playing The Joker

Lap Dance "Incident"

[edit]

I went to see Bobby Lee at a comedy club in Pittsburgh on 2/28/09 and he did the Lap Dance routine there (and without incident). So the article is wrong when it states that this routine is only done on college campuses. Also, without any source to backup the assertions of controversy over this comedy routine, really its just subjective to characterize the routine as controversial. Subjectivity is more appropriate on a discussion page than in an article. 67.172.16.255 (talk) 13:59, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CONFUSION WITH MMA FIGHTER

[edit]

Someone has added all sorts of info to this article about some other person who's nickname is "Bobby" Lee. None of the MMA info isnt about Bobby Lee the comedian. I was going to "undo" the edit but then I realized 3 people have continued to add to the MMA info on this page erroneously. Why do people do this? --The Lone Bard (talk) 18:43, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here's my 2 cents: I was picking through the edits and I figure I could made a stub article for the MMA fighter and I'm also thinking we may want to take Bobby Lee, the Mad TV comedian, out of primary topic status and move his article to say Bobby Lee (comedian); we could then redirect Bobby Lee to the disambiguation page, that way people doing a wiki search on "Bobby Lee" who are actually looking for the MMA fighter will find a the disambiguation page rather than falling on the comedian's page and neglecting to look any further before making edits. Marchijespeak/peek 23:52, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It appears the confusion stems from this blog post which was cited in one of the MMA edits to the article on comedian Bobby Lee. I sent a comment via their "contact us" form to suggest that they edit that blog post and pointed out that the comedian is in his late 30s and is far from being in athletic condition (sorry Bobby, if you ever read this, but I'm sure you agree!) Real Name

[edit]

Robert Young Lee

Bobby was on Dom Irrera's podcast "Dom Irrera Life from the Laugh Factory" on January 17th 2014. At 23:49 of the podcast Bobby mentions his real name is Robert Young Lee. He was named after actor Robert Young. Can someone please change the main change to reflect this? YouTube sources

Tigerbelly, please review WP:BLP and WP:RS. Youtube is not sufficently reliable source to justify inclusion of content that may be a serious violation of the biographies of living persons policy. TimothyJosephWood 14:02, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Brother Steve Lee

[edit]

While Bobby Lee's brother can be mentioned on this page, a biography about his brother's own life does not belong on Bobby Lee's page. If his brother is notable enough for a biography (see WP:BIO), then it should be on a separate page. Note that being Bobby Lee's family member does not confer sufficient notability (see WP:BIO#Invalid criteria). MarkH21 (talk) 03:48, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bobby's Bday

[edit]

Bobby has talked about his birth year, 1971, multiple times on his podcast. This information should be used as per wikipedia policy Self-published or questionable sources as sources on themselves as his birth year is:

  1. the material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim;
  2. it does not involve claims about third parties;
  3. it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the source;
  4. there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; and
  5. the article is not based primarily on such sources.

Film vs. Television

[edit]

Just to clarify, to make it easier on those editing this page. To make it easier for those trying to read the page, Film category normally applies to something seen in a theater, or direct-to-video. If it was seen only on the TV, even if single episodes, TV movies, and particularly if seen in a couple of episodes, that would normally fall under the Television heading. Mencia controversy

[edit]

What is the problem with this section? The primary sources are used to confirm what Bobbby Lee said. -- Thats Just Great (talk) 04:51, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The material has no independent reliable sourcing, and those are very important for WP:BLPs, especially when making claims about other individuals as well. Material should not be sourced purely to primary sourced material. That material is not reliable enough for that purpose and is also not WP:DUE for inclusion in an article, as Lee has done hundreds of hours of podcasts and interviews. Do any independent sources discuss Lee's involvement? – wallyfromdilbert (talk) 16:26, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Added some sources that Bobby Lee was involved in the Mencia controversy -- Thats Just Great (talk) 17:53, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I really appreciate you adding sources, but none of them actually mention Lee, who is the subject of this biography (except for [1], which is also a primary source interview, and does not suggest the material is noteworthy enough to include in Lee's biography). Do you know of any independent reliable sources that mention Lee in more than a passing mention regarding Mencia or Rogan? – wallyfromdilbert (talk) 21:43, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I added three sources that mention Lee was caught up in the Mencia controversy [2] [3] [4]. What is the dispute? Lee was part of the controversy. The sources say that what else do you need? -- Thats Just Great (talk) 22:53, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The first source there is the interview by Lee I linked above, the second one is a forum post (not a reliable source), and the third source mentions Lee once and only in a passing mention that Joe Rogan had mentioned him ("The controversy reached a boiling point when comedian Joe Rogan confronted Mencia on stage at The Comedy Store in LA in 2007, accusing him of stealing jokes written by George Lopez, Ari Shaffir, and Bobby Lee (all of whom have publicly confirmed the rumors)."). That is not adequate to restore contentious material to a WP:BLP. Could you please provide independent reliable sources that mention Lee in more than a passing mention? – wallyfromdilbert (talk) 17:47, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

3O Response: The sources need to be explicitly about Bobby Lee to be relevant to this article. It's not enough to show he was tangentially involved and then put a bunch of stuff about someone else; Joe Rogan and Carlos Mencia both have their own articles. Primary sources need independent coverage to show that the specific comments or incident is noteworthy, not just the topic in general. ─ ReconditeRodent « talk · contribs » 12:37, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Molested by a kid with Downs Syndrome

[edit]

Are we going to talk about this? 159.196.97.13 (talk) 00:07, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

why is this part relevant?

[edit]

in the tigerbelly section, there is a statement that reads:

"During an episode in 2016, Margaret Cho recalled an email exchange between her and actress Tilda Swinton over the controversial Ancient One casting in Doctor Strange (2016).[18]"

this totally feels like its just a random occurance that could have happened during any episode with any guest, and not some big notable event that warrants being included as a part of anybodys wikipedia article.

if it was just put in there "because theyre both asian", then thats a pretty weak reason and singling it out like that is worse than not even mentioning it.. and if that isnt the reason, then what makes it any more notable than the tens of thousands of other interactions that arent listed?

i really am curious as to what sort of woke wiki lengths somebody is probably going to go to to try defending leaving such a truly meaningless blurb in this article.

ideally, my point is going to be instantly clear and somebody will make the necessary edit.

either that or someone more important than me (relatively speaking, of course) will reply saying something along the lines of "you know what, youre right, go ahead and remove it."

it is so glaringly bad that i almost took it upon myself to just remove it, explaining why i did it in the edit notes, without ever querying this talk page first.

however, i didnt want to come off as somehow being 'disrespectful to the community', or be seen as somehow being otherwise 'insensitive'.

even if neither of those things were ever even remotely actually true, the sad state of affairs we currently find ourselves in has everybody walking on eggshells, because we all know there are npc muppetbots lurking around every corner, and they are just waiting for the next opportunity to make themselves feel better than someone else by twisting and misconstruing your words and intententions into directions and contexts which you absolutely never intended, all in order to get the lynch mob (or even just a small portion of it) to come for your head.

so, in order to avoid suffering through such a completely disgusting and pointless ordeal, i thought i better make my case here first.

it really is extremely cut and dry if you just take a moment to think about what im asking here.

i look forward to hearing back from one of you soon, if nobody feels my inquiry warrants a reply within the next week or so, i will try my luck and just remove it myself.

it should be really easy to do the right thing here, you know deep down that a meaningless little blurb like that isnt notable and if it deserves anything, it deserves to be removed.

regardless who said it to whom or where it was said.

in fact, if we completely leave race out of the equation, the only wikipedia article that it should ever be included in would be an article specifically dedicated to interactions between margret cho and tilda swinton, or an article specifically dedicated to interactions between margret cho and tilda swinton from tigerbelly.

see?

its just dumb. lets do away with it.

Yeah this needs to be added to the page as it's significant enough for major news media to discuss it, at least so that people can know that he told the story & then later denied that it's real. Doesn't need to go further than that. Having gone across the border near there and deliberately NOT paid for prostitutes but seen plenty of it ...his story is likely fairly common.
