- Wikipedia has guidelines and policies to adhere to, and this includes how articles should be written to an acceptable standard of English. Unfortunately, your edits so far seem to have been in a lower quality standard of English than is acceptable. That is not a criticism of you, howeve, your spelling isn't really very good. Perhaps it would help if you used a spellchecker before adding content. Also you need to structure sentences correctly and to use capital letters, and not add everything in "lowercase" as well as using correct punctuation. Hope that helps.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 00:11, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
75th Birthday Flight
[edit]Dear Blackpool International Airport Im enquiring if you still do private flight days, My Father is 75 in June this year and has never been in a Plane in his life. As a present we would like to book him on a short flight around the Lancashire area and we were told that your airport does this sort of thing Awaiting you reply Mrs Wendy O'Malley — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.232.5.203 (talk) 16:36, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
British Island Airways
[edit]This is a very sparsely-worded document, and there are significant omissions from the history section. It appears to have been written by a combination of aircraft enthusiasts and/or the local council. I am not questioning what has already been written, simply that there are significant gaps. I worked at the airport betwen 1979 and 1981, though regrettably I cannot provide any direct links; however here is confirmation from Wiki's aricle on British Island Airways and Air UK:
British Caledonian contracted BIA to operate its Gatwick—Manchester service between 1973 and 1976 (the aircraft operating this service continued on to Blackpool and the Isle of Man during the peak summer holiday season from 1975 onwards operating as BIA flights with UK flight designators)
Air UK's scheduled route network initially served the following 33 points: Aberdeen, Amsterdam, Basle, Belfast, Bergen, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Brussels, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Guernsey, Humberside, Isle of Man, Jersey, Leeds/Bradford, Le Touquet, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Stansted, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Ostend, Paris, Rotterdam, Southampton, Southend, Stavanger, and Teesside.
So why is there no mention of the British Island Airways (who later became Air UK) operations from the airport? This took place between 1975(?) and 1981 (confirmed). Air UK was a significant local employer and I am amazed that this has been overlooked. Additionally for a number of years, newspapers were uplifted from Squires Gate to Dublin every Saturday night. - You have to remember that wikipedia is a "work in progress" and is by any means not complete, that said if you have reliable references then you are welcome to add to the history of the airport. MilborneOne (talk) 21:56, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

Defunct?
[edit]I see that this article is currently in two Defunct categories, even though the text refers to the fact that it is still operation, and is active, even though its glory years are past. Is there a reason that I've missed for these categories still to be there? Lestocq (talk) 09:45, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- No they were added in good faith when the airport closed while they were trying to find a buyer, they actually have soon after so the cats can be removed. I dont think the actual aerodrome was closed just the commercial airline operation. I have removed the cats. MilborneOne (talk) 10:09, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- Agree. Its official website suggests it is anything but defunct. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:22, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

British Island Airways
[edit]I can't find any reference to British Island Airways. Who used to fly Handley-Page Herald's into Blackpool Airport' probably in the late 1960's to the early 1970's. Would someone please add this to it's history or correct me if i am wrong ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Plod21 (talk • contribs) 22:03, 5 October 2021 (UTC)
Airline service again?
[edit]When will Blackpool Airport have airline service ever again? Clrichey (talk) 04:15, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- Difficult to say, although this source, from June last year, does describe some investment: it says, "The growing air traffic control team is another example of recent investment in airport infrastructure, following over £2 million of funding into the 114-year-old airport, including new direction finding equipment, improvements to new airport lighting wiring systems, pavement and runway works plus a new voice communication system for Air Traffic Control."
