Reference to?
[edit]Reference to the obvious (Back to the Future), or reference to Mark Dery's notable chapter entitled "Black to the Future" (1994) which served as the first usage of the term Afro-futurism? Ghostwhip (talk) 22:20, 31 July 2021 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved to Black to the Future (TV series). Dab page to take over Black to the Future. (closed by non-admin page mover) – robertsky (talk) 06:44, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- Black to the Future → Black to the Future (documentary series)
- Black to the Future (disambiguation) → Black to the Future
– This TV series is not the primary topic. Per pageviews, it seems that the Black to the Future (Sons of Kemet album) could actually be primary, but this TV series is definitely not. Natg 19 (talk) 22:26, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. There are four entries listed upon the Black to the Future (disambiguation) page, with no indication that the four-episode TV miniseries broadcast in February 2009 made such a historical impact that it still overshadows the combined prominence of the remaining three entries. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 02:13, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support moving DAB to primary. (Timewasters currently gets more pageviews, but that's recentism and relatively few people know that series by its working title.) For the first part, I would like to counter-propose Black to the Future → Black to the Future (TV series) or possibly Black to the Future (miniseries) as the target disambiguator. Wikipedia:Naming conventions (television) recommends
(TV series)
(also(miniseries)
,(game show)
,(talk show)
, and(TV program)
but does not mention documentary series). While not codified in the naming conventions, there seems to have been a migration of disambiguators from (documentary series) to (TV series) beginning around 2017, with an intitle search only finding two articles (not counting redirects) retaining (documentary series). There is some dissent to this (see Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (television)/Archive 15 § Articles disambig'ed with (documentary), etc. and Talk:Vikings (2012 TV series)) but practise seems to prefer (TV series). Because the documentary tells a history, I believe there is enough of a connecting narrative to consider it a series rather than a program. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:24, 7 August 2022 (UTC)- @Reidgreg (TV series) or (miniseries) is fine by me. - I too would likewise support either "Black to the Future (TV series)" or "Black to the Future (miniseries)". —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 22:53, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
