Launches
[edit]Seems there a lot of launches at the Wallops Flight Facility [1]. What would be the best way to list them? Or too many of them? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Statsone (talk • contribs) 05:15, 2 October 2007
- I've started an article at List of Black Brant launches. It needs some work, though. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 19:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
-Someone ought to alter this article to mention the 1995 Norwegian Rocket Incident, involving a Black Brant XII rocket, which ought also to be further condensed with the article titled "Black Brant Scare." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Slithzerikai (talk • contribs) 22:19, 8 July 2010
Just if
[edit]If a sub-orbital rocket goes LEO does it count as a orbital launch? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mickman1234 (talk • contribs) 05:28, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- If it reaches orbit then it should be considered as an orbital launch. To my knowledge this has only happened once though (and that did not involve a Black Brant). --GW… 09:19, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Just because a rocket or other craft reaches an orbital altitude does not mean that it is in orbit. If said object has no velocity relative to ground it will simply fall back to earth. In order to orbit, an object must be at altitude and at speed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.87.3.6 (talk) 14:12, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
Terrier vs. Taurus
[edit]The text of the History section states "the current versions are the XI and XII, consisting of Black Brant V used as an upper stage, with Talos and Terrier boosters as lower stages." But in the Versions section, BB XI and BB XII are both described as having Taurus second stages. I think Terrier is correct. As far as I know, the only Taurus rocket of note is the one made by Orbital Sciences for small orbital launches, which is certainly not the rocket pictured. I searched Wikpedia for any other Taurus rocket, and did not find one.
I'm not certain enough, and don't consider myself a sufficient authority, but I'm pretty sure that the descriptions of BB XI and BB XII need correction.

Absolute Authority on Black Brants
[edit]A fellow named John Baird who last I know lives in Winnipeg is the absolute authority on all Black Brant Rockets an Al Fia for that matter. His career with Bristol started in the 60's. I had the priviledge of working with john on BBIII and a couple of smaller rockets one of them being the now named CRV7. John became the Chief Engineer for Bristol... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.67.195.148 (talk) 15:53, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
