William H. Gates Sr. → Bill Gates Sr. – "Bill" is the more common name for Bill Gates' father, because he wrote a book in that name, Showing Up for Life (2009). A TED Talk video from 2010 uses "Bill Gates Sr." [1], as does this 2009 TV interview with Seattle PBS station KCTS [2]. Furthermore, "Bill Gates Sr." has twice as many google results as "William H. Gates Sr."
"William H. Gates Sr." is a misnomer, because most reliable sources list his full name as "William Henry Gates II", such as CNN [3], Bloomberg News [4], and NPR [5]. There's no evidence he legally changed his suffix to "Sr." beyond just using it as self-identity. Arbor to SJ (talk) 06:38, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
