This page needs to be updated to include the early history of translation into Arabic evident in the manuscripts found at Mt. Sinai's St. Catherine's Monastery. Sidney H Griffith writes ("The Gospel In Arabic: An Enquiry Into Its Appearance In The First Abbasid Century", Oriens Christianus, Volume 69, p. 131-132):

The oldest known, dated manuscripts containing Arabic translations of the New Testament are in the collections of St. Catherine's monastery at Mt. Sinai. Sinai Arabic MS 151 contains an Arabic version of the Epistles of Paul, the Acts of the Apostles, and the Catholic Epistles. It is the oldest dated New Testament manuscripts. The colophon of this MS informs us that one Bisr Ibn as-Sirri made the translation from Syriac in Damascus during Ramadan of the Higrah year 253. [AD 867]

Arabic Orthodox-Christian use?

[edit]

The article should gain a section on whether there are translations from the Arabic speaking Orthodox Churches (Rum Orthodox) and if not, what other translations do they use in their liturgy (those Churches that have dropped the Greek, Aramaic and Coptic liturgies). -- 85.179.127.44 (talk) 16:18, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What Name is Used for God?

[edit]

I am curious as to how many translation use Allah (for Arabic translation) where **** or God occurs in the Bible, and also how many do not. The article indicates that some use Rabb, but it fails to list Arabic translations with the term(s) used in Arabic for God. (EnochBethany (talk) 07:13, 20 November 2014 (UTC))[reply]

Can someone update this article?

YouVersion bible app now has 12 Arabic translations available. Is there anyone who can look at that and give us information about those versions? 47.148.238.246 (talk) 06:28, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
