Move

[edit]

Support move since this is about killings and not village. Active Banana ( bananaphone 03:26, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Support Move, for obvious reasons. It would be like having an article with the names of a town in the Southern United States, when the article is actually about a lynching that took place in that town. Not something we do on Wikipedia. Stonemason89 (talk) 14:16, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merged into Sialkot District

[edit]

I went ahead and was bold and merged this page into Sialkot District. I came to the article due to the bare link (which had no reference to Buttar in it whatsoever), and found that it was almost completely unsourced, dubiously notable, unverifiable, full of grammatical errors, etc. When looking at the article for the Lynching of Mughees and Muneeb Butt (which seems to be the only thing the town is known for), I realized that it actually linked Buttar (village), which already redirects anyways. To add to all of that, I don't think the town is officially recognized by Pakistan's census. It seems to be simply a populated place and is generally either unincorporated or counted as a part of the greater Sialkot city area. Tolozen (talk) 09:08, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have no comments about the merge, but the redirect left behind ([1]) is a problem since there is not mention of "Bhuttar" in Sialkot District. We should not be surprising readers. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:09, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I have realized that the Sialkot Tehsil page is likely better for both of the redirects. It mentions Buttar as a union council within it. Tolozen (talk) 19:29, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That does makes better sense as a redirect target. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:12, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
