Not Clear

[edit]

The main issue with this article is that it is just not clear. It isn't as crisp as should be, considering the importance of the subject. There is some hyperbole that gets in the way, even more tidbits of marginal importance and plenty of un-sourced material to say nothing of the editorializing. Needs a major clean up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.250.111.120 (talk) 20:49, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled

[edit]

"The diminutive of Benedetto used to be Benito between revolutionary Italian families, as a Spanish and South American reference to Benito Juarez, until Benito Mussolini made it inexpedient, imprudent and offensive to use that form."

I deleted the words 'South American' because they are an ignorant way to refer to a Mexican leader. Mexico is NOT in South America.

Second longest serving?

[edit]

I'm too lazy to add up the years of Fanfani and Andreotti, but Aldo Moro and De Gasperi served longer than Craxi. Period. Cheers. Io 23:22, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In days: De Gasperi: 1858 Fanfani: 1386 Andreotti: 2226 Moro: 2074 Craxi: 1297 Berlusconi: 2012 (as of 17/05/06) berlusconi 2 also the first cabinet to make the 5 year period. Mallerd (talk) 20:45, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Berlusconi 2 did NOT make the 5 years period. After regional elections in 2005 he formed a new government with the same allies, reshuffling ministers and amending the government programme. So basically he was prime minister for 5 years in a row, but with two governments, Berlusconi 2 and Berlusconi 3.

For the same reason, Craxi's government, is the second longest in the Italian republican history. Even if Moro and De Gasperi served longer, but with more than one government

Unbalanced

[edit]

This article is very unbalanced. It really devalues and diminishes the statemanship of Bettino Craxi —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.201.129.98 (talk) 06:06, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article contains unobjective and useless statements about the author's opinion. We do not care whether the author thinks Chiesa was "unjustly singled out" or if Fanfani "made his worse mistake". It should be tagged as biased until all personal opinions and unverified (i.e., without reference) facts are removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cannarsi (talkcontribs) 17:52, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation

[edit]

How is his last name pronounced? I know "x" is not a common letter in Italian, is it silent? pronounced like "ax?" or is it closer to Greek, as many Italian letters use Greek names, such as Zeta, Ipsilon, etc.

It is pronounced Kraksi. :) Mallerd (talk) 20:39, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Son

[edit]

This man had a son, what was his name again? Mallerd (talk) 20:39, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources on Libya

[edit]

"For the Libyan attack, Craxi's government denied the United States any rights of military overflight, as did France and Spain. For the United States, this precluded the use of European continental bases, forcing the US Air Force component to be flown around France and Spain, over Portugal and through the Straits of Gibraltar, adding 1,300 miles (2,100 km) each way and requiring multiple aerial refuelings." This statement needs sources that confirm the denial of US military overflight by Italy, France and Spain in 1986. As well, more can be added to explain the relationship of Craxi and Gaddafi and how it influenced Craxi's choice to help Gaddafi in 1986. --Mhammel14 (talk) 07:07, 30 August 2016 (UTC) Mhammel14 (talk) 07:07, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"... arriving in a step by start the seminary"

[edit]

Goodness knows what the above means. Anyone who has an idea is welcome to correct it so it makes sense.METRANGOLO1 (talk) 12:20, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"he thought to start the seminary"

[edit]

This sentence doesn't seem to make sense. Does it mean he thought about entering the seminary and then thought better of it? Or is it an attempt to say something else? Whoever wrote it should come back and clean up the mess they left.METRANGOLO1 (talk) 12:08, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
