To-do list for Beta Phi Theta:
|
Notes on original page creation
[edit]I created this page today. Some odd things, I couldn't find a Beta Phi Theta crest in the yearbook editions I reviewed from Illinois, nor UW Milwaukee, nor Marquette. While Marquette listed the organizations, the other schools had other Greek societies, but didn't list Beta Phi Theta. I finally found a hand-drawn crest in a Trine yearbook, and the fraternity's colors listed in a Bradley University yearbook. There may be a better crest image somewhere which may be substituted for this one.
With outgrowth of this organization from a military training department, I assume that the specific color green they used for the official colors (green and white) is reminiscent of Army drab olive-green, or camouflage green. Jax MN (talk) 19:44, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
Chapter name confusion
[edit]The main article shows the Bradley University chapter as Delta chapter while the Trine University chapter is Epsilon. Yearbooks from that time show a discrepancy, where Bradley's chapter is named Omicron Sigma, in deference to its originating local chapter, and the Trine University chapter (not Bradley's) is named Delta. The main article reflects the Delta and Epsilon name, assuming they have the advantage of additional sources. I wrote to the Archive with this information, and to alert them that the Trine chapter continued until 1969, until it became a unit of Delta Chi. I await any updates they may provide, but until then, this Talk page note is intended to frame up this point of confusion. Jax MN (talk) 23:46, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
Illinois dates?
[edit]The University of Illinois listing in the Archive shows that Beta Phi Theta remained active until 1935, but the chapter list for that dormant fraternity, also in the Archive, shows it as going inactive in 1931. Which date is correct? Jax MN (talk) 23:56, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
