The property mentioned in the article is called Bell Hall and not Bell House. 109.150.122.171 (talk) 21:26, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- Done! (looks like it's for sale) Ttwaring (talk) 21:53, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
crude slang
[edit]As rude as it may be to some, the most notable use of the term bell end is of course the slang form. So, I've included it with sources. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 13:12, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- That doesn't belong here. There is no connection. At a DAB page maybe, but not here. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:16, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- The name of the village is notable (in part at least) because of the slang. There is a link between the two. Look at the sources, there is even an article on place names with rude connotations. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 13:37, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- Then perhaps we ought to say "the notability of the village lies partly in its name which..." etc. We also have the redirect link at the top of the page, of course. Should Nob End etc, etc, get the same treatment?Martinevans123 (talk) 13:43, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed, it could be worked into the article in a more attractive manner. I'm not sure about Nob End - it seems notable anyway. I would think that Bell End is maybe one of the more extreme examples and therefore more worthy of inclusion. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 14:12, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- You're suggesting that this village is notable only because of the slang coincidence? Difficult to know how much more notable Nob End has become? and when? Martinevans123 (talk) 14:28, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

- I base the notability on the Site of Special Scientific Interest status of Nob End, and the amount of reliable sources available. I'm a strong believer that if something is notable, there will be multiple mainstream sources. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 14:37, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- So, if Bell End was notable for other reasons, via multiple mainstream sources, the inclusion of the slang association might not be justified? I suspect there is a lot of potential material currently missing from this article. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:12, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- My opinion is that mentioning the slang term would be notable, no matter how notable the place name was. The only reason that I have that opinion is that there is a reputable source regarding places with rude names. Without that source, I wouldn't consider it notable. Putin statue: Rowley Regis, not Bell End village
[edit]This tweet, cited in The Independent says that the Putin statue is on a road called Bell End in nearby Rowley Regis, about ten miles from the village of Bell End. This is confirmed by the Birmingham Mail and Halesowen News, so I think it should be removed from the village article. Ttwaring (talk) 14:40, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you I see the point. The news story I cited made no mention of Rowley Regis and implied it was in the village. The Shropshire newspaper report, I thought, exaggerated the village's nearness to Shropshire.Cloptonson (talk) 16:08, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
