Etymology given for Belhus needs to be clearer...

Reaney (Placenames of Essex) says the name derives from the family. I have added this. If you have another source that says something different, please quote it. Rjm at sleepers (talk) 06:14, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In names like: "Windus", "Loftus", so forth, the 'us' is a shortening of 'house'. With "Belhus" the 'house' bit has contracted into: 'hus' rather than 'us'.
