Hi there! I'm MarioSoulTruthFan and I'll be reviewing your article.

Infobox

[edit]
  • Alt "An orange flower is held in the palm of a white hand in front of a purple background." What else is there?

Lead

[edit]
  • "Bedtime Story" is a song by American singer Madonna from her sixth studio album Bedtime Stories (1994)." → Bedtime Story" is a song recorded by American singer Madonna for her sixth studio album Bedtime Stories (1994).
  • "It was released as the third single from the album on February 13, 1995, by Maverick Records" → I have not seen a source regarding this on the article or a release history by the way.
  • and also → and it also
  • and was the first time the former wrote a song for Madonna's album. → she never written one before, right? So "for a Madonna's album".
  • and was the first time → it's the third time in two sentences I read the word "and", try "becoming the..." or something else.
  • The rest of the first paragraph has to be changed (or not) according to the rest of the I made further down.
  • but missing the top 40 in United States. → but missed.
  • However, the song peaked at number one on the Hot Dance Club Songs. → it should be with the latter sentence, you don't need a different sentence for this.
  • ($7.76 million in 2016 dollars[1]). → reference after full stop

Background and release

[edit]
  • "Aside from this, however," → you are saying the same thing twice, keep the former.

Recording and composition

[edit]
  • "electronic song" → not backup by source number 8.
  • "with its "skeletal" synth arrangement, influences of minimal trance, as well as techno". → not on giving source.
  • "Musicnotes.com" → Alfred Music
  • Her voice range is not on that quote. → fix these. and link the notes.
  • nodes → notes.
  • follos → follows
  • After this, the skeletal synth arrangement begins, over which the singer can be heard groaning. This is followed by sound of the drum machine and machine handclap. Madonna sings the song in a subdued, speak-sing manner, with the line "Today is the last day I am using words". In the song, Madonna sings certain lines in a hypnotic style. → very likely not to be the quote you intended, because it's not even close to that source.
  • a hymn → an hymn

Critical reception

[edit]
  • "song was a "brave decision", yet "Madonna captured the atmosphere of it beautifully"." → I don't get the meaning of the sentence.
  • "Victor Amaro Vicente in his book The Aesthetics of Motion in Musics for the Mevlana Celal Ed-Din Rum". → use other way of citing this.
  • "The ending of 'Sanctuary' blends seamlessly into what may be the highlight of the album — 'Bedtime Story'... It sucks you in with its quivering drum patterns taken directly from trance music, which creates an ethereal ambiance. → close quote.
  • "album In the Zone" → year of the album.
  • who wrote in the book The Music of Madonna → comma after Madonna.

Commercial performance

[edit]
  • "Had she reached the top 40, she would at the time have become the third woman in the "rock era" with the most top 40 hits, behind Aretha Franklin and Connie Francis. It would have given her a consecutive string of 33 top 40 hits, starting from her single "Holiday" (1983). Nonetheless, the song's "loss" of radio airplay and sales prevented it from peaking within the US top 40". → to close to the source, try reword it or add some quotes.
  • "Billboard genre charts, including the Rhythmic Top 40 at number 40, and the Top 40 Mainstream at number 38." → wrong page for the sources, check again...it«s page 2 and 3, respectively.
  • You are always using "next week" → how about the following, one week later and so on?

Music video

[edit]
  • Note: Address the issues below and I will give it a second view.

Background and development

[edit]
  • Despite the article being quite big, this section is huge! Reduce it's size.

Release and synopsis

[edit]
  • "At the event, "cutting-edge" tribal and trance remixes, made by disc jockey and producer Junior Vasquez, were also played" → what has a remix have to do with the music video? I'm not getting it
  • Unlike most of Madonna's videos which debuted on either MTV or VH1 television channels, "Bedtime Story" was first put into circulation on radio station Z100 following the singer's "pajama party" on March 18 → The video went first to Z100 and only then to VH1? The source also claims hat it went to MTV as well as Z100. Explain
  • "Suddenly, she floats down a corridor in a white gown, until she appears in a black-and-white projection in a cinema-like room. As the music gets more dramatic, the dream grows intense, with images of skulls and scars appearing, and the singer can be seen wading through space. A scene in which Madonna's eyes are replaced with her mouth and her mouth with an eye precedes the ending, influenced by the work of Kahlo; the final shots show Madonna waking up and looking out." → Reference?
  • This section also need to be reduced in size, however not as much as the previous.

Reception and analysis

[edit]
  • Same as the latter issue.

Live performances and legacy

[edit]

"It was described by the magazine as the "best opening performance" from the awards, and commented that" → doesn't flow properly, re-write.

Track listings and formats

[edit]
  • "Bedtime Story" (European 12-inch Maxi-CD single liner notes). → take a closer look at the reference.
  • European / UK CD single 2 → same as previous
  • European Cassette / CD single → reference doesn't say any of that
  • UK / European 12" vinyl → same as the first two

Credits and personnel

[edit]
  • Divide in two columns. The way presented it's a bit messy.
  • Where was it recorded, mastered and mixed? Who mastered and recorded? The album notes must have it.

Charts

[edit]
  • Fine.

Notes

[edit]
  • Great.

References

[edit]
  • Great.

Overall GA Review

[edit]

Hi @MarioSoulTruthFan: are you done with the review or should I wait to address them? Thank you for picking it up so soon though, wasn't expecting at all. —IB [ Poke ] 19:08, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IndianBio I'm not done yet, just give me a couple more minutes. It's quite an extensive article. You are welcome, your articles are quite outstanding in quality and objective. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:18, 12 June 2016 (UTC)~[reply]
IndianBio I have good and bad news. Let's start with the good news, the issues I have raised are quite easy to amend so I could give you one week for sure. On the other hand, this article has a problem with copyright. I've used Earwig's copyvio detector, which claims 42.2% and 40,1% confidence of a copyright violation. The first one is copied from Wikipedia, it's doesn't matter. Therefore, I will have to fail this article. Nevertheless, and because I know this gives work, once you have address the issues I raised you can nominate it again and I will be more than happy to review it again. You could submit it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors after addressing my comments, thank you so much. Leave a message on my talk page around that time. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:25, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
MarioSoulTruthFan what the fuck? Did you even check the Nylon and the Mubi source and how it is used? Those are direct quotes which are used from the links and that's why the higher percentage in Earwig. Honestly, thanks for the review and all, but you just wasted my time. And this just questions your whole review for me, so yeah, I'm gonna copy edit the article on my own, and won't bother for such a biased review —IB [ Poke ] 19:41, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
IndianBio you don't have to act like that! Yes I did, make shorter quotes it's easy, address the comments and I'll be glad to review and pass it (if it meets the criteria). I have no idea with what do you mean with biased review, it was a fair review. Besides, the percentage is not that high, just remove a couple of words and it will be it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:29, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
MarioSoulTruth, you know that if its one or two words, you did not have to fail the article. You made the fail like it was a huge issue and direct block quotes DONOT come under copyvio. Yes, it was biased and frankly, I do not find this review helpful at all. I should be dragging your actions through GAR, but can't be bothered. Good day and riddance. —IB [ Poke ] 21:33, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
IndianBio you have made it like a huge issue. As I see it now, I have to admit I have made a mistake it's just a couple of words you could have addressed it easily. I will ask an administrator to revert my edit so you can carry on with your review. I'm truly deeply sorry and please "don't have a cow". MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:07, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is a huge issue and makes me wonder your reviewing ability. Anyways, whats done is done and lets not harp on it. You don't need to revert your edits, I can renominate it when I feel like, and will let you know that time @MarioSoulTruthFan:. —IB [ Poke ] 09:32, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
