Possible article renaming
[edit]I just completed a revision of the article, which had fallen behind current research and perpetuated the mistaken identification of Beatrice as a member of the Lascaris of Tenda family. While there is no doubt as to her being a Cane by both birth (daughter of Ruggero di Odoardo) and by her first marriage (wife of Facino di Manuele), as established in the 1950s, much of the historiography still reflects the old and mistaken conclusion that she was a Lascaris of Tenda. For this reason I have hesitated renaming/moving the article, while correcting the information within and providing and annotating an explanation of the historiographical confusion. Nevertheless, perhaps renaming the article to (e.g.) "Beatrice, Duchess of Milan" or even "Beatrice Cane" is to be considered, presumably with a redirect. The Dizionario biografico degli Italiani (volume 7, 1970) calls her Beatrice, duchessa di Milano ("Beatrice, Duchess of Milan"). — Preceding unsigned comment added by StefThrax (talk • contribs) 08:58, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- Based upon the names listed in List of Milanese consorts, I think that Beatrice of Tenda would be appropriate. Peaceray (talk) 14:21, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the input. The problem is that the list was inaccurate on the point, and that "Beatrice of Tenda" is no improvement on "Beatrice Lascaris di Tenda" -- except perhaps seemingly in cutting down to one erroneous association (Tenda) from two (Lascaris di Tenda), which was really the same thing. I am correcting the list to reflect the contents of this article (and modern historiography). StefThrax (talk) 15:33, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
