Burial ground vs. cemetery
[edit]Is there a reason for using 'burial ground' instead of 'cemetery' when referring to Native Americans? If it's the normal way to describe a similar site in any culture, it would seem appropriate, but if not, it would seem patronizing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.93.226.146 (talk) 20:13, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
- The source uses the phrase "burial ground", so its an appropriate use here. cultural sensitivity point noted, but the source is the daily californian, the student newspaper of UC berkeley, so the phrase is probably politically correct anyway (UCB has one of the largest anthro depts on earth, with emphasis on native american studies.)76.232.8.123 (talk) 04:17, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
