A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on September 6, 2011. The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the Battle of Tripoli in 1825 was the result of the Sardinian consul's failure to provide Yusuf Karamanli, the ruler of Tripoli, with tribute? |

This is an interesting subject that I suppose hasn't been covered in many sources. I have a couple of comments:
- You red-link Sardinian-Tripolitanian War, but from this article it appears that the war and the 1825 Battle of Tripoli are pretty much the same. Do we need different articles?
- I cant seem to find an answer to the question. It appears that Tripoli did send vessels out cruising against the sardinians but i am unaware of any other engagements taking place during the war. English language sources are extremely limited in discussing the causes of the war (even the battle at tripoli left undescribed in most sources that mention it.)XavierGreen (talk) 00:34, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- Someone has removed the link by now, which seems sensible. Ucucha (talk) 00:08, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Be consistent in your time designations: 11:00 pm but 1:00 AM.- I believe these have been fixed.XavierGreen (talk) 00:35, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- The "Aftermath" section does not make clear whether they ultimately had to pay the tribute or not.
- Several sources state that the Sardinians were freed from the Tripolitian yoke by the Sardinian attack, but i managed to find a source that mentions that the payments to Tripoli were canceled at the end of the war.XavierGreen (talk) 00:34, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- Please check the grammar in the sentence you added. Ucucha (talk) 00:08, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
- I believe i have fixed my rather horrific grammer in that sentence.XavierGreen (talk) 03:37, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

It appears that the Houtsma source was not in fact published in 1993, only reprinted; it was actually published from 1913 to 1938. See the bibliographic page in the book. Are there sources for calling this rather limited engagement the "Battle of Tripoli", or for calling the equally limited war the "Sardinian-Tripolitanian War"?- They dont actually call it anything specific, at least in English. During the time period most European attacks against the city of tripoli were naval bombardments that sometimes included actions between the attacking and Tripolitian navies. This instance is unique in many respects because the Sardinians actually landed troops and attacked the coastal parts of the city since they could not bring their heavy guns to bear in order to bombard it. Because of that fact i didnt want to title it Bombardment of Tripoli and with no other good name i figured Battle of Tripoli would be acceptable since there really is no common name in English for it.XavierGreen (talk) 00:34, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
