Actual battle location?
[edit]In recent research conducted for my MRes thesis, I have come across an interesting fact regarding the location of this battle. The area near Tifernum (Citta' di Castello), cannot be the true location this engagement took place. It is no where near Samnium and it does not fit at all with the description of the roman generals' intentions of entering Samnium and Apulia.1 The more likely location is somewhere near the river BIFERNO (lat. Tifernus) since it is close to Bojano, the ancient city of Bovianum.2
