Incorrect info.
[edit]The city was taken by the Russians after a second wave was thrown at Sumy, the city is now in Russian hands. Vodoko1 (talk) 23:28, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- According to the map of Ukrainian territory on the 2022_Russian_invasion_of_Ukraine as of 00:41 Sat, Feb 26 UTC, Sumy is not under Russian control. I've been watching the page for quite a few hours now and the city of Sumy seems to be jumping back and forth between Russian controlled territory and Ukrainian territory. Stephanos100 (talk) 00:44, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Do you have a source? Curbon7 (talk) 01:21, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- This is a battle that is probably going to take a while. Russian initial incursion was repelled, however the city is surrounded by hostile forces who could realistically strike at any moment. Should probably wait a few days before any claim of Ukranian victory can be confirmed. XMaster4000 (talk) , 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Shouldn't there be a list of who won in the first wave and then second wave and so on? Russia would have surrounded the city and put it under siege initially but then Ukraine fought back. It is still in Ukrainian hands though. Doc Dimaus 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- Moreover, I do not think this link is a credible enough source: https://kyivindependent.com/uncategorized/a-large-column-of-russian-vehicles-is-pushing-into-the-city-of-sumy-from-the-side-of-khimprom/. Doc Dimaus 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Changing titles
[edit]Hello , I request to change the title from Battle of Sumy to Siege or Encerclement of Sumy 89.211.136.172 (talk) 05:53, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- Once again, Sumy is not encircled or under siege. Look at a live map! Most of the "oblast" of Sumy is, but not the capital city of Sumy itself. It is under Ukrainian control, and it is not encircled. Doc Dimaus (talk) 17:03, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- Moreover the map is old and unupdated. Doc Dimaus (talk) 17:04, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- And finally, please learn how to spell "encirclement" correctly Doc Dimaus (talk) 01:06, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
Change it to battle "For" Sumy as it is a ongoing conflict. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.30.95.16 (talk) 15:35, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- Curbon7Doc Dimaus, was the end of the Battle at 8 or at 4 April? 2A00:A040:184:2FAF:5934:262A:B0EB:BDF0 (talk) 07:39, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
- I'd say it ended on the 4th, although up to the 8th there were troops present and there were small skirmishes. Doc Dimaus (talk) 14:41, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
Ukrainian Victory
[edit]This should be counted as a Ukrainian victory, as even though the Russians withdrew, they never managed to capture the city, which managed to stay under Ukrainian control, so the Ukrainians were able to successfully defend Sumy from the Russians, much like what happened in Kyiv. 72.229.242.36 (talk) 21:00, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
END
[edit]was the end of the fight at 8 or at 4 April?
