"Almost naked"

[edit]

Congratulations to the editors of this article and working to make it a DYK. Can you clarify "almost naked"? Washcloth? Doily? Best Regards, Barbara 13:10, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Barbara (WVS), glad you enjoyed reading the article; I certainly enjoyed writing it. With regards "almost naked", this is covered in the article which states "Edge was completely naked and Smith clothed only in his drawers". So Lieutenant Smith was wearing his undergarments and Assistant Surgeon Edge was completely naked. Command lay with Smith until he was wounded and then was taken up by Edge (as an interesting aside I think under British Army regulations command should have devolved to Sergeant Belizario, medical officers being considered non-combatant - indeed Edge acknowledges as much in his own account of the defence) - Dumelow (talk) 13:50, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Your explanation is just as humourous. I was hoping my doily explanation was true. But alas! We don't always get what we hoped for. Best Regards, Barbara 03:17, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
