Why stalemate as this was much like haldighati a futile victory but this time for rajputs and should be entitled mewar victory as mughal fled Shakta11 (talk) 02:04, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How about a reliable source with a page number and quote? Instead of what appears to simply be your opinion. --Kansas Bear (talk) 02:55, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest the perpetual edit warriors read the quotes provided at Battle of Dewair (1606)#References, and understand that the result will not be changed to "Mewar victory" or "Rajput victory". FDW777 (talk) 06:54, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Full source?

[edit]
  • Need the full citation for Srivastava 1969, p. 269.
  • And, according to A military history of medieval India, page 530;Prince Pravez and Asaf Khan led an army of 20,000 horse which fought a battle against Rana Amar Singh at Dewar. The battle was indecisive so both sides claim a victory."
  • So unless a source can be provided, I would strongly suggest not edit warring the result of this battle. --Kansas Bear (talk) 00:44, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of 1582 and 1606

[edit]

Hello Arjayay, hope you're doing well. Writing to discuss the content of this page with you. The major Battle of Dewair that took place was in 1582 which involved Maharana Pratap. The current page which mentions the 1606 battle is comparatively a minor one. However, when you search for the Battle of Dewair on Google, it currently shows up 1606 battle instead of 1582 one. One reason is because there doesn't exist a page for 1582 battle yet, it's only a redirect to Maharana Pratap's conquest. So I was wondering whether it would be a good idea to rename and restructure the content on this page itself rather than creating a new one for 1582? This is from the Google search PoV. Also, from my reading on the topic and seeing the previous edits on this page, I think it would be better to do the same. Let me know what you think. Hi DesiBoy101 thanks for your post, and for pinging it to my attention.
In short, No, I do not think "it would be a good idea to rename and restructure the content on this page itself rather than creating a new one for 1582".
As the Battle of Dewair (1582) article was deleted following a deletion discussion (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Battle of Dewair (1582)) such a move would be to completely usurp / edit directly contrary to, the decision in that AfD discussion. I did not contribute to that AfD, but if you think the outcome of that AfD was wrong, you could create a case at Wikipedia:Deletion review, but you would need to be able to overcome the reasons for that decision "... there are vague assertions of importance and the existence of sources, but the detailed analysis of the sources by FDW777, who argues that the battle is nowhere described in any detail, has not been rebutted."
Furthermore, we do not change our articles, to overcome the deficiencies of Google. If you think their results should be modified, please take that up directly with Google - you could start with the "feedback" link at the foot of their information panel - good luck ! - Arjayay (talk) 15:36, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Arjayay for your short as well as detailed reply. I wasn't aware of the deleted article and the discussion seems quite detailed & complex, with specific points by users put forth well. Will see if it's possible to find better resources to take this discussion any further. Appreciate your time and suggestions. Regards - DesiBoy101 (talk) 18:25, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
