Translation into Chinese Wikipedia
The 10:48, 4 November 2007 76.174.47.12 version of this article is translated into Chinese Wikipedia--Philopp 11:31, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
I'm surprised the lack of mention of a Chinatown existed in Barstow (on the east side of old town) in the 1880s. The Chinese arrived to maintain the railroads in the area. Chinatown was abandoned by the 1890's when anti-Chinese racism drove out about 100 Chinese residents. Mike D 26 (talk) 07:30, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Can't find a citation mentioning the existence of a Chinatown. --January2007 (talk) 17:04, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
Article needs careful once-over
This article suffers from at least one instance of vandalism, stylistic carelessness, and unsourced references. The fourth word ("tribe") is obviously vandalized, and the reference to vagrants also sounds vandalistic. Numerous orthographic errors are also present. Wbkelley (talk) 03:33, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
temperature conversion error
It looks like temperature conversions are entered automatically. Regardless, there seems to be an error in the sentence: "Daily temperature ranges are large as a result of the low atmospheric moisture, typically between 30 and 35 °F (-1 and 2 °C)," since "30 and 35 degrees F" refers to the temperature spread and not the temperatures themselves. For example, on a particular day, the temp could go from 60 to 90 degrees F. That would be a 30 degree spread. However, that would have nothing to do with 30 degrees F. Barstow mall
Barstow mall is a dead mall off of the I-40. Back then in the 1980s, they had two stores Kmart and Sears. The mall also had a Big Lots after it became dead, as the store closed afterward, the mall lost money. With a new look the Barstow Mall will reopen in 2011 or 2012, a high school kid reported it. The Kmart store will be replaced with a food court and a new sign will be placed. So now, Barstow residents wont go to nearby places like Wal-Mart, the Barstow Outlet Stores and The Mall of Victor Valley. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.243.210.96 (talk) 08:36, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- I know that Barstow Mall had a pic n save, two auto center pads and outside pads. The mall is good, it's having a new look. I hope the mall will reopen soon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.89.129.230 (talk) 05:45, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- The Barstow mall will be opening in 2011, 2012, or soon I cant wait.
- There is going to be some sort of offices for the County of San Bernardino at the east end portion of the mall. Mlpearc powwow 04:01, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
- As of July 2011, the Barstow Mall site remains derelict and any works have not begun. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.21.45.42 (talk) 22:01, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
I removed a bit that said Erin Brockovich reported on waterborne toxins in nearby Hinkley. The bit was not directly connected to Barstow, thus it was in violation of WP:SYNTH. However, Brockovich has multiple connections to Barstow, including conducting meetings in Barstow about Hinkley water quality, having Barstow declare "Erin Brockovich Day" to be August 15, 2000, having Julia Roberts film in Barstow for the movie Erin Brockovich. There's enough there to have some kind of mention of Erin Brockovich in the article, but it should not be about Hinkley. It should be about Barstow. Binksternet (talk) 21:44, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

who is Woodie?
And why is he famous? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.53.211.88 (talk) 06:25, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Woodie is a loving political and volunteer activist known around town for helping people in anyway he can, often going out of his way, for example putting people's trash can's back into their driveways on trash day, he has a mental disorder, but is otherwise a sweet man, he even gets to have his own section in the yearly parade throwing glow sticks and candy. He is a part of Barstow and I thought you should at least know. Everyone knows him and says hi, so while he is not famous, he is popular.Jessvj (talk) 01:40, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Can't find a citation regarding his activities, which indicates that he's not notable enough to make even the local news. His inclusion in this article seems unlikely to be useful. --January2007 (talk) 17:01, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
As I said, he is a part of Barstow, just well known only here. The question is who is Woodie and I answered.
