[edit]Hey guys. I've been working on the 2008 Barack Obama assassination scare page. In light of this new alleged plot, I changed that page to 2008 Barack Obama assassination scare in Denver and created this one to differentiate the two. I've only got two sources on this page right now, but I plan to add more info from more sources in the upcoming days. If you guys contribute to this page, I'd suggest using the Denver page as a basis for comparison (and if anyone wants to improve on that one, that would of course be welcome!). Thanks guys! -- Hunter Kahn (talk) 05:45, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Notability?
[edit]Why this is notable? I guess Dubya got thousands of threats like this? --Matthiasb (talk) 19:24, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
It was widely covered by the mainstream press. See WP:NOTE. This subject clearly satisfies the general guidelines. If you can find any information about assassination threats against President Bush that were widely covered by the mainstream press, they probably deserve articles too. 23 members?
[edit]Since when did a grand jury have 23 members? Whatever happened to 12? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.99.104.234 (talk) 01:27, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Since the beginning of Anglo-American common law, a grand jury is usually larger than a petit jury which is traditionally 12. A grand jury determines if there is enough evidence for a trial usually by examining evidence presented to them by a prosecutor. If an indictment is returned by a grand jury, a petit jury determines guilt (conviction) or not guilt (acquittal). Naaman Brown (talk) 22:27, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Sons of Silence
[edit]Were'nt the guys who tried to kill Obama members of the Sons of Silence? If they were, it isn't mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.202.94.119 (talk) 15:24, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved to Barack Obama assassination plot in Tennessee. Nathan Johnson (talk) 15:55, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Barack Obama assassination attempt in Tennessee → Barack Obama assassination threat in Tennessee –
- Or to Barack Obama assassination scare in Tennessee? Query in my user talk page. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 13:54, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- Maybe conspiracy? I don't know, I see why you want to go away from "attempt" but I'm not sure this contravenes our normal way of doing titles. Red Slash 23:35, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- Agree to move, but not to "threat". "Scare" and "conspiracy" are better. Prefer Barack Obama assassination plot in Tennessee. Further suggest Barack Obama assassination plot, Tennessee, 2008, as suitable precision for a minor event in a long term historical perspective, which it will become. In fact, prefer the year over the place, if both together are too much. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 06:04, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Agree to move. My first choice is Barack Obama assassination plot in Tennessee (SmokeyJoe's first proposal). It never came to an attempt. No need for a year, unless there's another one in Tennessee. There is another article that should be moved in a similar way, the plot in Denver: Barack Obama assassination attempt in Denver. This one was also in 2008, so year won't work as a disambiguator. HandsomeFella (talk) 21:16, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Needs live information
[edit]Cite [2] is dead, meaning that many of the claims in this article are invalid. 101.98.88.223 (talk) 10:00, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- Is the text in one of these (or perhaps try the Wayback Machine)? http://archive.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/10/28/skinhead_plot_news_sweeps_suspects_tenn_hometown/ http://www.stategazette.com/story/1473547.html Sjö (talk) 12:15, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- I fixed it. However, the fact that there was a dead link would not have made the statements invalid as WP:VERIFY makes it clear that the source doesn't have to be available on the web. Doug Weller talk 16:29, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
