Information, etc
[edit]Hello there! I have several things I'd like to bring up about the Wikia page on Baltimora. I came across the act via the discography database Discogs; where there seems to be census it was an alias. It seems another Wikipedia editor pointed it out (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Baltimora#Yet_Another_Italian_Phony); as did Baltimora's personal acquaintance Tom Hooker in an interview: https://web.archive.org/web/20131109143139/http://www.euro-flash.net/deejays.php?djID=2
Also; I viewed the prior versions of the page; and New Wave doesn't seem like a major style of Baltimora's, but I think its okay to keep. Also; the information on the album's various musicians was removed, for reasons I am not sure of. Finally; the Billboard magazine article articulated that just over a million sales in the western Occident (the US) constituted half of the overall purchased in total:
-"The group sold nearly half its singles, totaling [sic] more than a million units, in the U.S. alone".
An Irish blogger & writer also stated that the voice was "hardly a Derry accent": http://josefoshea.blogspot.com/2014/03/tarzan-boy-how-emergency-paramedic-from.html
I posted this message on a contributor's talk page; but haven't received a response yet.

- Discogs not regarded to be as reliable source by WP community, neither are blogs.--Harout72 (talk) 17:41, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
Pardon that; will seek out the original sources.Simon Levchenko (talk) 17:45, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
- "The group sold nearly half its singles, totalling more than a million units, in the U.S. alone" – I read this differently, to me it means that the group sold more than a million singles around the world, and nearly 500,000 of those singles were in the US... not one million sales in the US. Lead Vocals - Jimmy McShane or Maurizio Bassi aka Carrara
[edit]There are a lot of discussions around the web as to whether McShane or Bassi performed the lead vocals for Baltimora. This article currently credits Bassi with lead vocals, which I feel is correct, though the source used for that claim is not very good. I am not sure if Bassi has ever publicly stated that he performed the main vocals for Baltimora. However, there are a number of pieces of evidence for this. Every time Baltimora did a public performance, it played a recording and lip synced. In 'Tarzan Boy' there is a noticeable Italian accent in the singing, especially at time 1:02 in the track. At time 0:58 in 'Welcome To The Sunshine' by Carrara (Bassi), the singing is very similar to the lead singing in 'Tarzan Boy'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.202.208.224 (talk) 13:24, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
- While I personally find it likely that, at the very least, the lead parts on the verses to "Tarzan Boy" were performed by Bassi with McShane providing the harmonies and the main portion of the hook—there is a noticeable Italian accent to the lead parts, whereas the harmonies have a distinct timbre and accent suggesting a native English speaker which seems to carry over into the bulk of the whooping part—I am merely a listener with a music background going by ear here, and I feel like it really ought to be highlighted that this assertion was not made by a member of the band, but rather another industry insider who may or may not have his own agenda. He also seems to imply that McShane didn't sing on record at all, which while, again, something I personally doubt given that there seem to be at least two distinct male vocalists on at least that track, is curiously also contradicted by this article. To this end, I have noted Hooker as the main source for the claim without making implications one way or the other.100.11.26.105 (talk) 18:28, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
