Mentioning Caste
[edit]Dear Editors!
There has been a discussion on India Portal related to mentioning of caste of subjects. The point is that mentioning caste of people, who have nothing to do with their caste, is found to be unnecessary by few editors. Hence the caste of the subject person needs to be deleted from the biography. I am not deleting the caste as of now but am only posting this here so that the regular editors of this article are well aware of it beforehand and no edit-wars take place. For details of discussion held on the portal please refer Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics#Mentioning_caste_of_Individuals. Your views if any are welcome there or even here.
And.... as the reasons of exclusion of caste pointed out were "irrelavant to notability of subject person", "privacy of the subject person", "inclusion of caste is like branding individuals", etc. other information included in the article which also fall under these cases will also be removed after discussions. Examples of it included religion, non-notable spouse's and children's and parents' information, previous occupation, lived in places, non-notability related educational qualification, etc.
Your views on this are also welcome here or at the India portal. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 11:56, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- Not here, please. There is a community discussion taking place at WT:INB and I would advise people to read the entire discussion before forming an opinion because the above summary is incorrect. Nothing more need be said here. - Sitush (talk) 01:49, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
There are very likely two people named BR Shetty
[edit]There was some news that BR Shetty was detained or spent some time in prison? And some news relating to the NMC group. Can anyone verify this, or was this just a rumour? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.43.227.18 (talk) 12:16, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
This is incorrect. This page refers to http://www.brshetty.com/ the gentleman here. Kindly refrain from spreading incorrect information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shamitharaj (talk • contribs) 10:36, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
- Looking at the cited sources,Gangster Chhota Rajan, 5 others convicted in BR Shetty firing case and Hotelier who was shot at has criminal background: Police , it does appear that there are two people named BR Shetty. It seems most unlikely that the subject of this article would have been described in 2013 as a "Mumbai hotelier". Edwardx (talk) 11:14, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
Relation
[edit]Is this person related to late Dr. M.V.Shetty of Dr. MV Shetty Group of Colleges — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.43.227.18 (talk) 12:16, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Reversal of edit due to suspicion of COI
[edit]Greetings! I am a new Wikipedia user and have encountered my first COI allegation in relation to the edits made to B. R. Shetty page. There is no COI, is there a way to demonstrate the same? As far as I can comprehend, the edit is factual, cited and devoid of promotional language. Could admins please have a look and advise?Ashabnama (talk) 23:51, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- Ashabnama Your first sentence reads, "In April 2018, Dr. Bavaguthu Raghuram Shetty announced the creation of “Finablr”, a holding company which, subject to regulatory approvals, would consolidate the global portfolio of financial services brands under a single umbrella." "Shetty" will suffice. The original reads "Shetty announced the creation of Finablr, subject to regulatory approvals, which will consolidate his global portfolio of financial services brands under one single umbrella." Your slight rewording is to close to the original. Please read Wikipedia:Copyright violations. The phrase "consolidate his global portfolio of financial services brands under one single umbrella" is clearly promotional. The rest of your edit is more of the same, and the quality of your referencing is suspiciously high for a new editor, hence my COI concern. Edwardx (talk) 01:59, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
- Edwardx Hello Edwardx, I am super pleased with the back handed compliment that the quality of referencing is atypical for a newbie. Can't stop smiling ear to ear. Thank you! But didn't realise it would land me in trouble :( I take my work seriously. Regarding the wording being close to the original, I actually thought it is supposed to be this way! So, yesterday I notice a Wikipedia page on copyright violations and am now suitably informed. Regarding the 'Shetty' will suffice, it is quite :O in the Arab world to shorten the name so. Personally too, I am notorious for addressing people by their full names. Though I can see your viewpoint. The deference indicates that I probably work for / am related to Dr. Bavaguthu Raghuram Shetty :D (which isn't the case). I have noted the specific examples where you deemed the language promotional. The sentence is in fact a copy-paste from the referenced article. However, the point is acknowledged and taken. Since I worked meticulously on the edit, it was devastating to see it wiped out plus a COI suspicion slapped on for good measure :B Would you grant me the benefit of doubt and allow a revised draft to be posted on the talk pages for your review? Inaccuracy in article
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
In the biography article on B.R.Shetty, in paragraph 2, the article states: "There are allegations of misappropriation by Shetty at his companies and was forced to resign from his director positions". It cites two articles as the source of this statement. However, the articles cited do not contain allegations of misappropriation by Shetty, so this should be corrected or rephrased as: "There are allegations of misappropriation and fraud at companies he founded." The article also should make reference to the statement made by B.R. Shetty on April 29 in which he reveals that an investigation has confirmed that there was a fraud perpetrated in NMC Health and Finablr by a "small group of current and former executives". https://gulfbusiness.com/uaes-nmc-controversy-founder-br-shetty-issues-first-public-statement-denies-wrongdoing/ https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-29/nmc-finablr-founder-shetty-says-his-probe-finds-serious-fraud Thank you!
- Done Removed allegations. --Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 05:10, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
Findings of investigation into fraud
[edit]Can I suggest that the findings of the investigation into the fraud at NMC Health and other companies owned by Dr Shetty be included in the article? The investigation found that the fraud was perpetrated by former NMC Health CEO Prasanth Manghat and his brother, the former CEO of Finablr, Promoth Manghat. Dr Shetty, as a shareholder of these companies, was a victim of the fraud. The findings are explained in the following articles in the Daily Telegraph: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2020/08/22/former-nmc-health-finablrbosses-facefraud-claims/ https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2020/08/22/shetty-strikes-back-empire-falls/ Thanks for taking a look! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tmkashby (talk • contribs) 09:50, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
