Page location and name
[edit]This article was recently redirected under a new article "Az Zubair Field" under the auspice of the name being wrong. There is no need to create a new article and then redirect this one."Zubair" and "Zubayr" are both very common spellings for the name of this field. The "Az" also needs to accompany the name. One letter (especially of an Arabic to English translation) that is commonly used in both fields does not mean a new article needs to be created. I am sure Wikipedia users appreciate the expansion of the article but there was no need to rip out the old and expand upon it in a new article.
The user who created "Az Zubayr Field" should check with Wikipedia:Starting an article before creating another. The tips explain how to avoid duplicating articles.
There have been some articles I have wanted to create and unfortunately, someone had already made it. I simply expanded upon it.--NortyNort (talk) 22:49, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree - a Google search with Az Zubayr or Az Zubayr Field yields TWO significant results, and both refer to Al Zubayr while a Google search with Zubair Field returns hundreds of results; as a consequence, it is far more likely one will search wikipedia for Zubair Field and not Az Zubayr field so it is more logical to redirect the latter not the former. The simple fact that the Az Zubayr article was created earlier doesn't imply it is the most relevant.

- I still don't believe that a single changed letter warranted a new page rather than a move or inclusion of alternate names. I will move the page to 'Az Zubair Field', I think that will make sense to the both of us.--NortyNort (talk) 11:37, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
