Categort "Incest"?
[edit]I'm going to remove the Category:Incest label from this article. It is true that the Book of Jubilee names Awan as sister of Cain, and tell that they married. However, in the same narrative, Seth is told to have married his sister; so is Seth's sun Enos; and so is Enos's son Kenan. Their wife-sisters also are named. The Book of Jubilee doesn't call either of these eight people "incestuous" in this word, and also doesn't discuss narrying sisters at that time as anything negative or as contributing to the sins of this or that biblical person.
If there are other sources discussing Awan's and Cain's marriage as incestuous (e. g., the Quran), then I'm perfectly willing to restore the categorisation. Until then, I'm inclined to think that the authors of the Book of Jubilee was of the opinion that when very few humans existed, marrying your close kin was not a sin, but a necessity. (As an alternative, we might create a category for "sibling marriages in mythology", or something similar; hopefully someone could come up with a better name, which would be uncontroversial. E. g. Isis and Osiris would go into that cattegory, as well as the eight aforementioned biblical/Jubilee persons. However, I'm not quite convinced this would be a sufficiently interesting categorisation.) Re-visiting Incest Category
[edit]I move to include the Incest category. The inclusion was reverted on the basis that the article is not a "defining characteristic", but it does not need to be. The Category:Incest includes modern and historical figures, as well as one other Biblical figure, Lot. I see no harm, and the category appears relevant. If this is incorrect, please explain how it is harmful and/or irrelevant. - Boneyard90 (talk) 03:08, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- Any objection to Category:Fictional characters involved in incest? - Boneyard90 (talk) 03:47, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- Don't think that applies here. - Boneyard90 (talk) 01:14, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Family Tree
[edit]Unless I've missed something obvious, shouldn't Awan be listed under her family tree next to Cain, Abel and Seth? Especially as it's listed on her stub of a page. Desdinova (talk) 12:05, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
Family tree completely lacks women
[edit]How does this make sense? The article is about one of them. I get that they're traditionally considered background characters in the source material, but that shouldn't make an encyclopedia censor their very names. 37.162.197.86 (talk) 06:31, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
