Recording Studio?

I think M. Shadows mentioned on LoveLine that they recorded the album somewhere in California, I think possibly Burbank. Could be wrong, but does anyone else know? Tyhart87 19:49, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Webclips?

I don't have the wiki skills for this, but could someone make a table and section for the webclips? Date, content, etc...? - At0m1Ca15 82.69.54.176 13:57, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

there is someone who knows what happened at the "afterlife" video ?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Avengerboy (talkcontribs) 13:59, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Album Leak

The album HAS been leaked. From the looks of the .rar file, sometime just after midnight 19/10/07. Don't remove the entry, you'll have tons of proof by tomorrow morning :D And hey, don't worry, I'm getting the album anyway, paying for it, so who cares if I hear it early ;) I have merchandise!!! hahaaa.... man this stuff is awesome, today, life is good. - You know I make you wanna screammm 82.69.54.176 16:57, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Avenged Sevenfold

Does anyone know what genre this album is going to be? What has happenend to all the other information that was on here?

There more of a rock band now from what i've heard.

"Walk"

Why is "Walk" being added as one of the confirmed tracks on the album?
I'm sure that it will not be on the album. The studio version was recorded last year and was a part of a CD that came with the Kerrang! magazine and now it was released on iTunes for those who couldn't get it from Kerrang!.
It is NOT a single from the new album so why is it being added as one of the songs on Avenged Sevenfold's new self-titled album? --LockedUpInside

I was just thinking this. I'm gonna remove it until it's confirmed. --BoaDrummer 17:57, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

I just removed it but someone is probably going to put it back there soon. --LockedUpInside

Where is the reference for the rest of the confirmed tracks? There should be a source for these tracks as the album has not been released. There needs to be a reliable source or it should be removed.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 23:35, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm actually fairly sure that "Walk" is now coming out, although it might be on a bonus disc. Check the myspace. - At0m1Ca15 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.69.54.176 (talk) 15:44, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Walk is coming out on the single for Almost easy im pretty sure it says on thier myspace —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.189.149.99 (talk) 14:54, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

"Shanna Crooks?"

I see on the MTV article that Shanna Crooks has been confirmed to be on the song "Dear God," but who put her name next to "Gunslinger," and where is their source? It does not say that Crooks is in "Gunslinger" in the MTV article.

There used to be 10 track titles on there , what jerk took 3 out and why?

Those three were taken out because they were not confirmed, AKA nobody said they were in the album and whoever put them there is a lying scumbag.

And the Most Exaggerated Representation award for a talk page goes to... R-Tiztik 02:44, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

There is actually a female singer in part of Gunslinger, and considering this discussion, it probably is shanna crooks. - At0m1Ca15 82.69.54.176 12:54, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, listen to GUnslinger, there is a female singer. It's pretty obvious, it's Shanna Crooks. If it's not her, then it would either be Cam whoever or the Rev in a very feminine voice —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.236.132.180 (talk) 21:49, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Album Length?

It says that the album length is 68:30. Has this been confirmed but any reliable source?--LockedUpInside×Message Me 18:12, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

I just found this : 1. Critical Acclaim (5:18) 2. Almost Easy (4:01) - First Single 3. Scream (4:48) 4. Afterlife (5:55) 5. Gunslinger (4:20) 6. Unbound (The Wild Ride) (5:30) 7. Brompton Cocktail (4:17) 8. Lost (5:05) 9. A Little Piece of Heaven (8:03) 10. Dear God (6:40)

I'll add it for now —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.69.54.176 (talk) 17:21, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

"I Won't See You Tonight Pt. 3"

This song HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED. People keep putting it back up after we take it down. STOP IT. If you put up another song title that wasn't confirmed in the MTV article, you better damn well have a source.

"08/08 Leaked videos"

just for some info, I just found those two leaked videos, however the full length is lousy quality, and the other one is cut. Anyway, M. Shadows is pretty crap live and you cna't hear the band so it's hard to tell how good it is... I trust them XD By the way, what happened to the track list? -At0m1Ca15 (yeah sorry I forgot my password :P)

Album artwork.

Just to let you guys know, the album art that was put up here isn't album art. It's a wallpaper for a cellular phone that the band released. Please don't use it on the page. --BoaDrummer 04:38, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

from the looks of the myspace, this may end up looking something like the album.... although that would be slightly cheap, that's just an invert of Waking The Fallen :( —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.69.54.176 (talk) 15:41, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

64.53.58.54 14:51, 16 October 2007 (UTC)A7X is the best band out today..... I have heard critical acclaim and almost easy, and I have to say that this could be a great album...... I haven't heard the rest of the songs on the confirmed track listing but im sure they will be good!!! A7X 4 LIFE64.53.58.54 14:51, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Heavy Metal?

I want proof as to how they're heavy metal, they don't use distortion, they're guitars and drums are neither thick nor heavy. And M. Shadows vocals aren't really agressive nor vigorous, actually they're melodic. The only song i would even call heavy metal on this album is critical acclaim, all the rest sounds like hard rock, with the exception of dear god, wich is country rock. The only thing that would make them close to metal is their guitar solos, and even that quality is losing it's touch with avenged sevenfold, somebody tell me how they're metal.4.235.189.149 (talk) 01:13, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Heavy metal and hard rock, it's that generic. Speed metal? Nothing like speed metal, though... not a clue why that's up there. -MetalKommandant (talk) 23:20, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

'they don't use distortion' Yes, they do. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.129.149.118 (talk) 22:53, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Heavy metal not showing up

The genre is listed under genres in the infobox, but it isn't showing up there in the article. Anybody know why? James25402 (talk) 17:47, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Nevermind, fixed it. James25402 (talk) 17:50, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

haha

wow, i put up (as a joke) that wolfie had a rap album, and almost a year later someone remembered it and put it on the page. OMG nice! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spagett (talkcontribs) 01:24, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Reception

"The album has received mixed reviews according to metacritic.[2] It placed number 4 on the charts at its release"

Why is that last part mentioned in the recption section? it's kinda like.. it received mixed reviews, but it was number 4 on the charts!. It seems rather fanboy-ish to me, does any one object to it's removal?Xanthic-Ztk (talk) 07:00, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Is 'A Little Piece of Heaven' a single or not?

Is it a single? there's a video for it on YouTube that wasn't fan made. It's on A7X's official YouTube channel. So was it just a promo vid for the album, or was it actually a single?Xanthic-Ztk (talk) 05:47, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

The video is official, and it is a single, there should also be a page made for it really Evando (talk) 21:10, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

The Rev's input.

Should it not be mentioned that the Rev does a lot of backing vocals on this album?

And in addition to the whole "It contained key elements of their earlier successes" thing, it contains screaming, which is one of the major elements it countains from their earlier works that City of Evil didn't. Sure, it's nowhere near as much as Sounding the Seventh Trumpet or even Waking the Fallen, but the Rev does do a fair bit of screaming on the album. The main example being Critical Acclaim, but he does scream in the Bridge of Afterlife, in Scream, and in A Little Piece of Heaven.

Also, I object to using the term "Successes". I don't think anyone would call Sounding the Seventh Trunpet a comercial success, though Waking the Fallen did go gold in 2007, that was mainly because of the bands success after City of Evil. I doubt anyone would object to using "releases". Besides, a lot of earlier fans hated City of Evil, so using that as an example of earlier success wouldn't quite fit what It's trying to get accross. Xanthic-Ztk (talk) 01:42, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Wait, Xanthic-Ztk, Waking the Fallen is RIAA certified Gold? I don't think it is.Zxcvghjk (talk) 23:29, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Gothic Rock??

one word, 'no'.I'm removing it. If there is a source then re-ad it otherwise I can't see how this is gothic rock. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.176.166.126 (talk) 03:26, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Original Song Titles

is it necessary to say that the original name of gunslinger was gunslinger. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.75.92.162 (talk) 09:18, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Alternative metal and gothic rock? I don't think so...

No, absolutley not. Anyone who can tell the difference between various forms of rock and metal (like the most of us here I hope) would know that calling this album Alternative metal and Gothic rock is VERY misleading. I asboltuely cannot hear a trace of alternative rock or metal on this album and the only song you could say has an overall gothic theme to it would be 'A Little Piece of Heaven' but even that is almost secondary. So just because one song has a gothic theme to it, doesn't mean we list it as the secondary genre for the album.

And the singles Critical Acclaim and Scream are not gothic songs. 'Critical Acclaim' may have that Hammond organ introduction which I guess you could say has a gothic sound but the rest of the song is obviousley heavy metal. As for 'Scream', I have no clue where you're getting the idea that the song is a Gothic metal song. Apart from 'A Little Piece of Heaven', there is no gothic rock or metal on this album.

So to whoever keeps changing the album's genre and its singles, please stop changing them. Unless you have sources (and not just one) that justify your edits, please leave the genres as they are. --Madroxxide17 (talk) 01:57, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

I would say that the drumming is pretty Alternative Metal influenced if anything.
You would say the drumming is alternative metal influenced and not anything else? Well, I wouldn't and even if it was, that's not a very good excuse to say "alternative metal" should be listed as one of the album's genres. I thought I made it clear not to make any changes to the genre until we've reached a consensus in this discussion thread that states otherwise so don't change it again unless you have anything reliable we could use to support what you think this album should be labeled as like a source or a reference and not just your thoughts.--Madroxxide17 (talk) 23:37, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Genre

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:gifwxzyhldke That link shows the genres of the band as a source. The genres are:

  • Heavy metal
  • Alternative metal
  • Post-Hardcore
  • Emo
  • Alternative / Indie rock (It's Alternative rock since A7x is signed to Warner Bros. who obviously aren't indie)
  • Rock (It may be vague but roots of classical rock is evident)

It lists no such thing as Hard rock, by the way. I'm not logged in but I am sure they'll still post this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.51.70.8 (talk) 22:57, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

The album is most certainly not post-hardcore, emo, and definitely not alternative rock. Allmusic is not smart when it comes to genres. According to the user-votes rateyourmusic.com, most suggest that the top genre is alternative metal. 71.186.236.221 (talk) 15:27, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

I would say that this record is a heavy metal, hard rock and progressive metal album! :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.224.156.58 (talk) 15:59, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Removal of Some Singles Pages

Why? Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/A Little Piece of Heaven, WP:NSONGS, WP:GNG, WP:INDISCRIMINATE, to name; but a few. Rehevkor 15:32, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Okay. I Understand "A little piece of Heaven"...But Why "Critical Acclaim" and "Unholy Confessions"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.74.88.23 (talk) 23:58, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
What was in those articles that can't be in this one? Rehevkor 22:07, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Page Protection

Glancing through these Avenged Sevenfold album pages, it appears that there are consistent edit wars regarding spurious information, particularly with regards to songwriting contributions. It might be an idea for a regular Wikipedian who knows how to put protection on these pages to do so, as there is a lack of uniformity and a lack of citations with regards to this so-called “information”, both of which are a concern on this website. 109.150.162.237 (talk) 19:02, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Singles merge

While the recent re-instatement of the singles articles include chart references, it should be noted that these are mostly based on airplay. Considering the paragraph on Notability under WP:SONGS I would a propose a merger with the album article. The charts listed are not significant or too low to be considered of any importance, the songs have not received any awards nor have they been covered by other notable artists. Crucially there is not enough verifiable material that will result in a detailed article for any of them. Instead they contain a lot of trivia and unreferenced material. Karst (talk) 22:07, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Genre of album

There are sources that are in the music style section that call it hard rock and say it moves away from the metal genre. And a source for symphonic rock. Statik M (talk) 16:35, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Dear God (single)

The only official UK chart has these singles listed here. No idea what the UK Rock Chart is in this context, but if it isn't mentioned on the OCC website, it is not official and not notable. Karst (talk) 12:22, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Time signatures/musical style.

A little Piece of Heaven appears to be in 12/8 time signature, at least for portions of the song. I'm not sure if this is notable, or not, even with most of the album being in 4/4. I'm questioning whether to put this in as it may be considered WP:OR. Zombiedude347 (talk) 20:47, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
