Discussion regarding merging this page with Automated airport weather station
[edit]I think these pages should remain separate. This page can concentrate on various other automatic weather stations, which generally only report temperature, humidity/dewpoint, wind speed/direction, pressure and accumulated precipitation.
Airport weather stations are unique in their ability to report present weather (fog/haze/rain/snow/thunderstorms), visibility, and cloud height (ceiling). They are also unique in that they are designed specifically for aviation needs, not just regular weather reporting. They are a much higher and more specialized class of station and should be kept separate from the average automatic weather station description. Famartin (talk) 03:24, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
