Seriously what is your problem with FACTS piquin? You obviously aren't upto date on Audis DTM history and I grow tired of having to correct you. You need to read more I stated FACTS with a British publication in print, not web conjecture. I am one of the original thread starters on the RS4 and I grow tired of people changing things for no apparent reason. AIUI, the A4 DTM cars (like all DTM cars) only share their name and their silhouette with the production model - this description of the R14 A4 DTM describes it thus: "The chassis has a hybrid concept. It consists of almost 31 metres of steel tube of the type also used in the aerospace industry. The driver sits in a carbon fibre safety cell that actually resembles a Formula 1 monocoque. [...] The bodywork is made from carbon-fibre composite...". Obviously then, any resemblance to the production A4 or RS4 is cosmetic. Therefore, since its called an A4 DTM, and not an RS4 DTM, then it's of minor relevance to this article, IMHO. Letdorf (talk) 14:07, 10 December 2008 (UTC).[reply]
So... If anyone has any evidence to show that the RS4 is, in any real sense, the "production version of the A4 DTM" (ie. R11/12/13/14), then let's see it! In the meantime, here's another description of 2000-onwards DTM cars, from Racecar Engineering:

Despite the cars' outlandish looks - that suggest they are heavily modified production saloon cars - the DTM racers are actually purpose-built racers with spaceframe chassis and the drivers sitting in carbon fibre monocoques bolted to the frame for increased safety. Mercedes' 'new' C class DTM racer, for example, which was introduced earlier this year, was really just a new body built by official tuners HWA. Gerhard Ungar, HWA's technical director, received the CAD data for the new shape Mercedes C class road car in March 2006, his team then being tasked with updating the old DTM racer to be a silhouette of the new machine."

The RS4 is an evolution from the base A4 platform, implementing racing technology from Audisport in DTM to roadcars such as the RS4. The A4 is the base model the RS4 is the top Tier A4 in the model range. I think your missing the fact that the RS4 is an A4 and, Racing sells cars, what car resembles an Audi DTM car, the toptier A4 chassis RS4. V8 engine, flared Wheel arches, sport bigbrake kits,19inch sport rims. As for the purpose built chassis yes its just like NASCAR regulations but are you just trying to quote RCI to say the race chassis have nothing in comparison to the roadcars?

Yes, that's right, I'm saying the R11/12/13/14 chassis, body and drivetrain obviously have no real commonality with the production A4 or RS4. Just because the RS4 looks a bit like an A4 DTM from a distance and also has a (completely different) V8 engine doesn't make it the "production version of the A4 DTM". I'm not sure what relevance that video has to the RS4 or the 2000-onwards DTM series - it only covers the 80s and early 90s period. Letdorf (talk) 00:15, 5 January 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Bookoflove - I don't think anyone isn't appreciating your efforts here on wikipedia. However, looking at your first paragraph of this talk section, you clearly seem to think that because you 'started' this article, you now have an absolute right to somehow think that your point of view, and ONLY your point of view is valid. But that is blatantly against the spirit of Wikipedia - you do NOT own this article, and you do NOT have the sole right to 'force' your own opinions.

Now, on to the nitty gritty of this issue. It is perfectly clear, and has been referenced with external links, that the Audi DTM racecar entry, just like ALL entries into the DTM series are simply 'silhouettes' of their production car variants. They actually bare exceeding little resemblence of their road car counterparts - apart from the obvious styling, and 'trademark' queues like the LED headlamps and single frame grille. The Audi A4 DTM does NOT share the same V8 engine found in the RS4, it doesnt share the RS4s 8-pot Brembos - or anything else from the RS4.

But the real crux of the matter is how the DTM racecar is 'officially titled'. Audi AG categorically title their racecar as the 'Audi A4 DTM' (NOT Audi S4 DTM or Audi RS4 DTM) - http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/uk/en2/experience/Motorsport/dtm.html, http://www.audi.com/com/brand/en/experience/motorsport/dtm.html, and the original German language site - http://www.audi.de/de/brand/de/erlebniswelt/motorsport/dtm.html. Then, in the official racing championship, again, the car is entered as the 'Audi A4 DTM - http://www.dtm.com/audi.php. Finally, every other possible external link I have ever found again clearly lists it as the 'Audi A4 DTM. So, it is very VERY clear that the DTM text in Wikipedia should be in the Audi A4 article - and NOT this Audi RS4 article. Just because you think it should be in the RS4 article - that doesn't mean you are correct. This article is still tagged as having a US perspective only, but it seems that the issue has been resolved, as options and models are listed for both Europe and America. Perhaps this tag could be removed. I also see no more "peacock terminology" that hampers the text. Everything looks factual and straightforward. Er, that was me (sorry). I had a brain spasm (three actually) while attempting to correct the problem in haste. Audi always seem to use "RS 4", et cetera (with a space). Third-party sources often miss this as you correctly pointed out. Audi is not alone, they do the same with Lexus (e.g. IS 250 and IS250) and Mercedes-Benz (e.g. E 350 and E350).
