Proposed merge with 2013 Anti-Sri Lanka protests
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- To not merge given no consensus and discussion stale since 2013
Basically all the references except one are all from March 2013 and are related to the Anti Sri Lankan Protests.Even the news article dated 24th march SL Hc may shift to Trivandum is in relation to the protests. Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 12:13, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
- Support - Since the cause and timing of these events are highly associated with the UNHRC review and the student protests across South India.Tamil Nadu still remains India's leading foreign tourist destination, proves that attack on Sri Lankans have nothing to do with percieved hostility or anything else.--CuCl2 08:51, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- Against - Dear friends, I think protest and attacks should be in two different articles. First suggest a peaceful process while latter is a totally different concept. On the other hand these events had been dragging on for few months now. So I don't think it's just a temporary situation. In my opinion, with recent attacks on Buddhist monks, this article has potential to expand further. Thanks. Nishadhi (talk) 15:35, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- Almost the article covers March 2013 and all ref are March 2013 except 1 further the decision or speculation about SL high commission moving is due to the Protests.Attacks are part of the Protests. There is nothing separate here.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 16:57, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- Foreign Tourists including Buddhist monks from other parts of the world(you have no idea how many Thai and Korean tourists land each day) have never reported anything untoward.Only two incidents have been reported, and unlike Sri Lanka Tamil Nadu has an independent Law and Civil process that has arrested the culprits and action being taken. And in Thanjavur, the state police personnel were the ones who transported the assaulted monk and the other SL students(who did not face any damage) all the way to the Trichy airport. The situation was not such that the Indian Army who had to intervene. And only since two incidents have been reported, and no such in the past, it is not appropriate to cut down the larger picture that is the mostly peaceful and law-abiding protests boycotting the SL High Commission and the Geneva resolution.--CuCl2 06:15, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- Against - an incident vs mass protests. This is will shift provide undue weight to an almost unrelated incident. --Natkeeran (talk) 01:48, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- New article/Merge and rename - The attacks on Sri Lankans began a while back and not just this month. I remember cossde created a similar article (Travel ban on Sri Lankans in Tamil Nadu...?) when it first occurred but that got deleted because it wasn't frequent enough or something along those lines. I think you could say these were two different events that are merging into one? Maybe? Although a better solution I think would be to add all the info in an article such as Tamil Nadu reaction to Sri Lankan Civil War.--Blackknight12 (talk) 12:43, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- Support Merge - A couple of minor incidents in which no one was even hospitalised do not warrant a separate article.--obi2canibetalk contr 15:33, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose: Incidents have been reported before the 2013 protests. Interest in the attacks has been greater in Sri Lanka than the protests which have not gained as much attention. SinhaYugaya (talk) 23:42, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
