[edit]None of the OAKA facilities are in a "state of disrepair." They are all in full use today. Visit www.oaka.com.gr and www.olympicproperties.gr for more information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.229.159.142 (talk) 20:29, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- The referenced Daily Mail article specifically mentions the tennis center, velodrome and diving venue. In addition, www.oaka.com.gr has not been updated since 2005, while the latest news on www.olympicproperties.gr concerns ongoing redevelopment plans. Misterkillboy (talk) 07:46, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Look more carefully at the OAKA website. All the information you are looking for is there. The Olympic Stadium being used for domestic soccer league matches (home field for two teams in the Greek Super League, Panathinaikos - www.pao.gr - and AEK Athens - www.aekfc.gr), track meets (like the Tsiklitiria meet, part of the IAAF Golden League - http://www.tsiklitiria.org/) , and concerts (Shakira and Pearl Jam in recent years among others, Bjork a couple of months ago - http://www.ekathimerini.com/4dcgi/_w.../05/2008_97189 -, Madonna in a few weeks - http://www.ticketpro.gr/ -). The OAKA also held the UEFA Champion's League final in 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ljz6N...eature=related. The OAKA basketball stadium is the home court for Panathinaikos - www.paobc.gr - and AEK - www.aekbc.gr - in the Greek first division of basketball, and recently held the FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Matches (http://www.athens2008.fiba.com/), as well as the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006. It is also the home court for the Greek National basketball team. The velodrome recently hosted the Greek Cycling Championships (photos here: http://apolisports.blogspot.com/2008...ship-2008.html). And here is a list of events held there recently (unfortunately only in Greek): http://www.oaka.com.gr/articles_list...p;e_cat_id=324. The tennis center is still in use, here's a list of tournaments held there recently (unfortunately only in Greek): http://www.oaka.com.gr/articles_list...p;e_cat_id=325. It is also used by the Athens Tennis Academy: http://www.athenstennisacademy.gr/eng/gallery.html. The aquatic center is still in use as well...list of recent tournaments, again only in Greek: http://www.oaka.com.gr/articles_list...p;e_cat_id=342. The outdoor pool is open to the public as well. http://www.e-tipos.com/newsitem?id=47588. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.229.159.142 (talk) 17:59, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- You cannot simply remove the section because you don't like what it says. If you can find reliable, independant, sources to prove oterwise then a discussion on changing the section can take place. Basement12 (T.C) 18:14, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Why is the Daily Mail article more reliable than the official site?LucretiusC (talk) 21:08, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- It may not be, however there is more than one source saying these things. The key thing here is that the whole section should not be removed just because one thing might be wrong. Any changes to the section should provide references to show which venues are still used and what they are used for. Basement12 (T.C) 21:13, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- The indipendent.co.uk article refers in passim only to the open air pool which is a minor part of the complex though it's used frequently by the synchronized swimming team. The daily mail article speaks vaguely about the "sorry state" of the Olympic stadium although it doesn't elaborate much on the state of the other facilities, just states they are empty, which is normal if you consider that by mid-july nothing moves in Athens except stray animals and the occasional car. Anyway I think that the section is now pretty much npov although it still needs sources for the venues in use. I might attempt to fix it tomorrow.LucretiusC (talk) 19:39, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello,
Is there an independent editor who would be happy to write up an Athens Alive page and edit the OAKA page to reflect the recent development plans? Happy to help with info etc, however, I am conflicted.
