Notability and referencing
[edit]To establish notability, this article needs references to reliable published sources which are independent of the organization, e.g. reviews, articles, etc. in newspapers, books or magazines. Note that being a member of Opera America does not confer notability. It is simply a professional organization with paid membership. Also, anyone editing this article who is affiliated in any way with this organization should read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for guidance. Voceditenore (talk) 08:22, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Neutrality and conflict of interest
[edit]I have copyedited this article to remove a this unencyclopedic puffery which was added to the article today. Future editors, especially those who are affiliated in any way (personal or professional) with this opera company must adhere to the following guidelines when editing it.
- 1. Before even starting to edit it again, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for guidance. If you are editing this article as part of your employment with this company or as a PR contractor, please familiarise yourself with our Terms of Use concerning paid editing
- 2. This is an encyclopedia article, not the company's web site or news letter. All additions must be referenced to reliable sources. Future performances are inappropriate. Performances should be added once they have actually taken place and a reference for them can be provided.
- 3. All additions must be neutrally worded and use encyclopedic tone and style. Any additions which can be perceived by a neutral reader as hype or PR will be removed forthwith. See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Avoid peacock terms for guidance.
- 4. Do not paste in text from your or anyone else's official websites, blogs etc. Apart from the almost invariably unsuitable promotional style, it is a copyright violation unless the sites explicitly display a public domain license. Further guidance can be found on the following pages. Please read them carefully:
- 5. Remember, Wikipedia articles will always have to conform to Wikipedia's policies on content, style and formatting – not to the subject's desired image or marketing goals.

- Well, that had obviously no effect. An editor who appears to be closely associated with company has simply over-written the article once again with the most appalling puffery, blatant advertising, and material copy-pasted from the company's website. I have tagged the article for these issues and the tags will remain until these issues have been remedied. Voceditenore (talk) 18:48, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- The promotional language and copy-pasted text has now been been removed by another editor, and the article's text has been restored to a neutral encyclopedic style. I have also added further references, and re-added the section on past seasons (with proper formatting). In light of this, I have now removed the maintenance tags from the article.
