Essay "Hegel's End-of-art Thesis (1999)
[edit]I've been searching for authenticity on this paper and cannot find it. Was this not published? What is its provenance? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.174.154.211 (talk) 20:44, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Hegel's actual end of art thesis
[edit]The following quotation from the section on "the end of art" thesis is misleading about Hegel, but I don't want to remove it because I don't know enough about Danto say whether or not it is accurate about Danto: "...But he thinks that a certain history of western art has come to an end, in about the way that Hegel suggested it would." ...Hegel didn't suggest that art "would" eventually come to an end. He thought that art already was a thing of the past. Even in his own time, Hegel believed that art was no longer capable of having the same meaning for moderns as it did for the Greeks. According to Hegel art had already ended with the decline of the Greeks. Brijohn6882 (talk) 20:31, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Photo and general criticism.
[edit]There's nothing wrong with being bald. I, personally, as a male, will probably be bald one day. But who the heck thought it was a good idea to upload such a bad photo of Danto? What's wrong with ripping a photo off of the Internet that is more, uhh, aesthetically pleasing? That is to say, a photo of his face and not of his bald spot. I'm kind of new to Wikipedia; so, maybe I'm out of the loop when it comes to uploading acceptable photos of noteworthy people?
