Article Needs Independent Sources
[edit]The entire article is unreliable as it lacks any credible references. The only "references" cited lead back to websites appearing to promote the interests of Arochukwu people. This should not be acceptable for WikiProject Nigeria, and certainly, it is not scholarly. At least two independent accounts from credible historians are required for this historical narrative. If this is not available, then I suggest to delete article completely rather than misinform the public. Merlin1935 (talk) 07:53, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- @Merlin: Your observation is accurate. The only literary source is that of Percy Amaury Talbot (Life in Southern Nigeria - 1923) which is an anthropological observational report based on his posting as British Colonial officer in South East Nigeria and not reference on historical records. I am not questioning the source material as it relates to anthropology, myths and culture, but simply noting that most of the references made in the wiki article are not at all referenced in the Talbot's book, the article appears to be wholly made up from conjecture and fantasy. It is not possible that the article author ever read this book. I have! The article in its current form misinforms the reader and have no historical or documented reference base whatsoever. The remaining two references (both same source) are dead links, and as noted in Merlin's note above, have no historical reference either (reviewing internet archive records). 152.37.100.122 (talk) 17:06, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
RE: Article Needs Independent Sources
[edit]Merlin1935,
Independent sources have been added. The article was not misinforming the public. Independent sources on the Aro-Ibibio Wars (until very recently) were extremely hard to find. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LIL T (talk • contribs) 06:56, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
