Discussion: speedy deletion of Steel Wire Armoured (SWA) Cable
[edit]I am a fairly new user to Wikipedia and am still trying to develop my style and tone so that it fits the Wiki world. I would like to find out more about the detail of what is being contested on this page so I can learn, amend the offending material and ensure I am still providing a useful service for wiki users. I have already reread the piece and amended a few phrases that use the words 'suitable for' and 'recommended'. It is really not intended as an advert and is just designed to share the information I have gleaned from working on material as part of my day job. I have started with cable because I am familiar with the subject through my work but intend to branch out to other subjects including 'clean up' exercises and would really rather some guidance to help me improve, than the page be deleted without giving me a chance to correct it. Any advice and guidance would be much appreciated. The content on this post is product specific but fits in with a number of cable related pages and would be of real use to interested users I am certain. I have followed other pages in terms of references and am unsure as to where I have gone wrong. (Creativesoul8 (talk) 17:33, 6 November 2008 (UTC))
- I've removed the speedy delete notice for the moment. The references are actually the reason I proposed speedy deletion. Most all of the refs seem to point to sites advertise Eland Cables. Although I'm unsure of the cable standards, some of the article info suggests that the technical data may be exclusive to specific cables from Eland Cables. Are you aware of any other souces that describe SWA cables that are not commercial in nature?
- Thanks for the speedy reply. The cable in question is certainly not specific to Eland and two of the references you mention are information sites - admittedly created by Eland - but with the sole intention of educating (a teeny bit like a cable wiki). I will try and find some more references asap, however, so the page does not look in any way biased although I do feel at least some of the existing references should stand because they are entirely relevant to the page. Is that ok? Thanks for the heads up and I will do my best to make this as impartial as possible. Kind regards. (Creativesoul8 (talk) 17:59, 6 November 2008 (UTC))
I've been looking for a decent image of a SWA power cable, but could only find a mediocre example, if you can find a better one please replace! Pahazzard (talk) 22:33, 15 September 2010 (UTC) Could you please check that SWA doesn't me Single Wire Armoured there is also DWA Double Wire Armoured which has two armourings going in opposite directions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.244.247.130 (talk) 07:33, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
