Military Magazine Info
[edit]Yepp i add to this inforfation about ossetian force. Information first published in russian military magazine "Military magazine" (Военный Журнал). This not propaganda really. This magazine is intended for russian professional military. Gnomsovet (talk) 13:30, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
"The South Ossetian military fought in the 2008 South Ossetia war to defend the territory against a large-scale Georgian attack."
This is strongly separatist-side point of view, as this territory is considered by Georgians as their historical parts.
The same goes about who started the war.
- Hence it says "The South Ossetian military fought" ;) HistoricWarrior007 (talk) 12:02, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
2,500 vs. 3,000
[edit]This article states that South Ossetian military is 2,500 strong. The big article, 2008 South Ossetian War, gives the same number as 3,000. Which is the correct the number? HistoricWarrior007 (talk) 09:48, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Ahh, figured it out. It's 2,900. 1,000 regular infantry, 500 Peacekeeping Battalion "Alania", and 1,400 belonging to other battalions/companies/platoons/units. HistoricWarrior007 (talk) 06:35, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Captured equipment
[edit]I remember reading that some of the Buk-M1 units captured from Georgia were given to South Ossetian armed forces. Does anyone have more info or sources about this? Also, the info about T-72 tanks is correct, but it needs a source. Offliner (talk) 08:34, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Merge suggestion
[edit]I think South Ossetian Army should be merged here. Both articles are small and their contents overlap a lot. Offliner (talk) 05:26, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
