Year of Consulate
[edit]The reference given here for the year 139 is the biography of Annia Regilla by Sarah B. Pomeroy, page 23. But the only reference that Pomeroy herself gives for the date is the "Prosopographie des femmes de l'ordre sénatorial" by Marie-Thérèse Raepsaet-Charlier. In this book (vol. 1, p. 83), the date for the consulate is only given with question mark ("consul suffect: 139?"). And even here in the english Wikipedia, Appius Annius Gallus is mentioned in the List of undated Roman consuls (with the comment: "c. 139") and not in the List of Roman consuls for 139. Géza Alföldy has shown ("Konsulat und Senatorenstand unter den Antoninen. Prosopographische Untersuchungen zur senatorischen Führungsschicht." Bonn 1977, p. 139) that Appius Annius Gallus must have been consul suffectus in 139 or 140. So I will move the article to a better lemma (if I find one). --Der Maxdorfer (talk) 14:23, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
