GA on hold

Hi there, I have reviewed this article against the Wikipedia:good article criteria and although I am not quite prepared to pass the article for GA immediately, I don't think there is a long way to go. I have listed below the principle problems which prevent this article from achieving GA status and I have also appended a list of other comments which, whilst they are not essential for GA, may help in the future development of the article. The article now has seven days to address these issues, and should the contributors disagree with my comments then please indicate below why you disagree and suggest a solution, compromise or explanation. Further time will be granted if a concerted effort is being made to address the problems, and as long as somebody is genuinely trying to deal with the issues raised then I will not fail the article. I am aware that my standards are quite high, but I feel that an article deserves as thorough a review as possible when applying for GA and that a tough review process here is an important stepping stone to future FAC attempts. Please do not take offence at anything I have said, nothing is meant personally and maliciously and if anyone feels aggrieved then please notify me at once and I will attempt to clarify the comments in question. Finally, should anyone disagree with my review or eventual decision then please take the article to WP:GAR to allow a wider selection of editors to comment on the issues discussed here. • Is there more information on his First World War service - which battles did he fight in? This part seems quite important but is skipped over quite quickly.

Thanks for your review. Regrettably I could not find much info on his WWI service beyond the bare facts from his service record (which record he was with the 1st Moroccan through that time). It could well be that he was recovering from his wound still. The service record only records individual battles where a medal is won or an officer wounded - Dumelow (talk) 15:24, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Do you know where that Division was deployed? Presumably he was deployed with it until he was wounded?--Jackyd101 (talk) 19:17, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

I will see if I can find anything out. In the meantime I have added the place he was wounded (I was struggling to find the placename but believe it to now be Faissault) - Dumelow (talk) 22:39, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

• Was he still inspector of engineers during the second world war or had he retired by then? Was he still in active service during the war?

I did a bit of digging and have added some more info to this section. According to this unverifiable website he was retired in 1938 and recalled after the German invasion. I found a source for his recall but not his retirement so have added that - Dumelow (talk) 15:24, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

• Are some of the battles of the Zaian War worthy of articles in their own right?

I'd say so. I would certainly like to write one on Aïn Médiouna at some point. I am currently putting Zaian War (which I wrote from scratch) thorugh FAC so that is my main priority at the moment. I would like to improve Battle of El Herri after that but the other battles are still on my radar - Dumelow (talk) 15:29, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
